Gives you double the carrying capacity of your vehicle and is not too heavy to remove from the As a former owner of the NV2, I recommend it. My son visits from time to time, however, and so I like to ride more than one kind of bike on an outing. That being said, I have wanted to promote this ad for a while, but wasn't sure if it would be worthwhile. Here's what I can tell you. . . it's a yes! I was eager to put it to the test the next day after assembling it that day. It arrived very well packaged and was easy to assemble. I rode the day that I assembled it so I had already started riding. Firstly, a downhill bike that weighs every bit of the 50 lb per bike weight limit is loaded. I then grabbed a fat tire bike and a road-converted mountain bike in order to complete the duo. I knew I'd made the right choice the moment I had to choose which bikes (plural) to bring as extras! In the event that you already own a Kuat NV 2, this is a no brainer. Adding a roof top tent enabled me to transport four bikes in the back. Likewise, the extension works so well because of the same factors that make the Kuat so effective. The hitch mount is rigidly attached, thus preventing it from bouncing or rattling. My unit even had an upgraded lock mechanism in its integrated cable locks. Great bike cradle and tray. This longer cantilever does not alter the functioning of the program. As a side note, I would like to point out that this device is heavy, and the lever to raise and lower the pivot is hard to reach. A breaker bar can be built to reach through, or a reach-through device can be built.
There is no doubt that this is a great rack. The software works great. It gets 5 stars. The design is durable, secures the bike nicely, offers plenty of clearance when the tailgate is folded down and the bumper is folded up (bikes installed), has integrated locks and simple wheel clamps, is aesthetically pleasing, and Trail Doc is an impressive product. The following deserve a minus one star It has no scuff bar to protect the hitch hook knob (it can easily catch on the street when reversing on the street) The lever to unlock/tilt the rack is good, but difficult to reach with bikes on it, especially if you have a lot of them. With this add-on I have extended the capabilities of the Kuat, making it an awesome system. When I opened the box, the add-on was scratched. That's why I only gave it 4 stars. When the box was placed in the box, it was damaged since the box itself was damaged. As you can see in the attached images, there is a distinct line or an original Kuat V. Delivery in a timely manner! It arrived the day earlier than it was supposed to. The bike carrier is very sturdy and allows multiple bikes to be transported. The upgrade from my Thule bighorn rack has been a solid decision on my part. Easy to mount a 29er without any problems! Well worth the price.
