A pair of these replaced a broken pair that had been purchased earlier. Screws on the back pass through two tubes and can now sit higher, so the screw length is shortened. There are 25 mm of thickness on this board. These bolts cost $2 each. You can see from the photograph that they are specialty bolts. A total of $8 was added to the price, and all 8 should have been replaced, but the store didn't This was designed for a round bar or small oval, but it really works in a smaller space. The bottom of the plate needed to be bent almost flat so it would fit. The mount finally came up after hours of effort.

Assembling this item is not too difficult. It's nice that you don't have to worry about the nylon nuts getting loose over time. They are pretty sturdy and they find their way onto a BMW roof rack perfectly. In the case of rack theft, there is no way to prevent it, but if they wish to steal the mounts themselves, they will have to work hard for that. The same as a lot of less expensive accessories, if you follow instructions and use it as intended, it should work well and last a long time.

There is damage to the Saving money by going with a cheaper option is not worth it. To determine if these would fit on my car, I used the product description. Despite the fact that the measurements indicated they would fit, these pants did not quite fit as expected. Despite the difficulty in installation, we were able to get it done with a couple of tools (not included in the kit) and a lot of work, so we could use it in our kayak. I had no problems with them in their first outing. One rack was ripped off with a large piece of foam the second time around. One particular connector left a scratch on the roof of the car after it was repeatedly tightened to make sure it did not loosen and cause damage. This is not a rack I would recommend. It is a very disappointing experience. Spending money you don't have is a waste. The car's original parts were removed, and an expensive name brand replacement was bought.

Getting a little more than you paid for is the case here. I was pleased with how well it came together. There is much to be desired about the hardware kit, but it does the job. There's a price point to it, and I bought it for that reason.

I tried to assemble all the parts myself, but they didn't fit together. Nuts and bolts are causing the problem. In the square holes they were supposed to fit, they do not fit. There is no wrench that fits the nuts. I am returning the item.

There were four total J cradles in my order, so it took me an hour to assemble each. My first attempt at this was a complete failure because there were no instructions and I had to use power tools to fit it. To get the pieces to fit there are a lot of holes that do not line up well / it takes a lot of force / a lot of maneuvering to get them to line up. Trying to figure out how the first one worked took me an hour, and even when I had figured it out I still had to wait an hour for the other ones. In spite of that, once I finished them, I thought they were very sturdy, and I was very impressed by the way It did not move at all, and I found the ropes and cam straps to be of high quality and very useful.

Two long boats in the saddle and a rec boat on the outside have been traveling two hours each way for the last three weeks and the boats have stayed tight throughout. The quality will be better next time, but for now the quality is fine.
