It does have a scent to it. The odor is not overpowering for me, but it may be for others.
I'm not sure what I'm saying. However, videos stated that you should liberally apply it to the chain while turning the pedals and then clean it off. As you do this, it gets stuck in the gears. But I'm not sure about putting it on the gears directly.

I've tried a lot of different lubes over the years, and they all work to some extent, but after watching a video about lube comparisons based on a variety of criteria, Rock n Roll came out on top. I figured I'd give it a shot since it was a lube I hadn't tried before. I've made my decision. I've never used a better chain lube. When it comes to riding, they say you can feel the difference, and believe it or not, you can. So far, I haven't noticed the gunk and grime that other lubes leave behind on my chain. It's simple to use. br>br> It's not like your typical lube, which is extremely viscous. This appears to be water when it comes out of the bottle. Simply spin the crank and a stream of it will appear on your chain. Then you clean it up, and I mean really clean it up. Just make sure you give the bottle a good shake before using it. br>br>I'm not sure how it works because it appears to run off the chain, but I rode 100 miles with no squeaks. br>br>I'm never going back to any other lube. What's more, given that this is one of the most affordable lubes available, it's an added bonus.
Other solvent carrier / sorta waxes, such as White Lightning and Finish Line dry, used to be a big favorite of mine. This one appeals to me far more than the others. Now is the time to put it to good use. Dose the chain liberally, rub it off, and let it sit for a few minutes to allow the solvent to evaporate. You'll leave a lot of grime on your chain if you don't wipe it off and let it sit. Because the fluid is so thin, if you don't wipe it off and ride right away, you'll sling stuff all over your bike frame. br>br>The solvent in this thing is very effective at removing dirt and grime, almost like cleaning your chain with a rag. However, when the solvent evaporates, a thin waxy residue remains. It was a little unexpected. br>br>Probably the most significant disadvantage is that it appears that you will need to use this product frequently. As a result, it appears that your "per ride" cost has increased. However, if you want to save money, you can get this in a 16oz bottle as well as these three 4oz packs.
Over the course of my 50 years of cycling, I've tried a lot of different chain lubes, and I prefer the Rock N Roll Gold chain lube to any other. I'm prone to over-thinking things. Apply chain lube, which is perfectly acceptable and even encouraged with this stuff. It wipes off easily and does not collect dust; I've found this wax-based lube to be slick, clean, quiet, and long-lasting, even in light rain.
Squirt, Friction Facts' third-best lube, has been my go-to. I like that I don't have to clean my drivetrain as often with Squirt, but Friction Facts claims it's better in the long run, so I've been using it for a while. So far, everything has gone well. The chain isn't quite as clean as it was with squirt, but it's not bad. However, chain life will win out in the end.
I've tried a slew of different mountain bike and motorcycle chain lubes. This lube is truly unique, and you'll notice a difference in performance in terms of reduced friction and even shifting. I purchased extra in case the company discontinues production or changes the formula, which I hope will not happen.
I clean and lube my chain the day before a ride, then simply wipe off the excess before riding to avoid caked-on dust.
I'm so glad I went with R. Everything you've heard about how great it is is 100% accurate. My drivetrain not only shifts smoother and quieter than ever before, but it also stays cleaner for a longer period of time. If you're thinking about going with R, here's what you should know. You will not be disappointed if you give it a try.
This is, without a doubt, the best chain lube I've ever used on any of my bicycles. Rock and Roll also makes a top-notch cabling lube that is highly recommended and well worth the purchase price!.
