Questions & Answers

Is it possible to apply it directly to your skin for skin-care purposes? rubbing of the skin?

Yes, I use a lot of soap. It does not irritate the lady areas, and I have not experienced any redness or soreness after riding for 50 miles. This has been an answer to prayer for me because my skin is extremely sensitive.

Is this a product that you would recommend to a runner? I bought her body glide, but it's not up to par. When I run, the insides of my thighs rub against each other. ?

The body glide works wonders for running and friction protection on your legs, near your bra, and on your heels to prevent chafing. It is designed for cycling and has more of a cream consistency.

Is this product suitable for both men and women?

I'm not aware of any female users of this brand, but Gooch Guard claims that it is suitable for both men and women. I ride between 150 and 180 miles per week with no complaints.

I can't seem to find out how many ounces this container holds; it's not listed anywhere. ?

126 milliliters (26 ounces)

The best items aren't just for cyclists! So, I'm not a cyclist; in fact, I don't know how to ride a bike; however, I do experience chafing and friction on my inner thighs because I have thighs that require it (thanks to my Salvadoran ancestors)
5/5

This is something I use on a daily basis because it simplifies my life. When I wear anything, including leggings, I don't get chafing! I don't have to adjust anything, including my underwear, to move around easily. I've worn this to kickboxing classes and it's saved me from having to adjust my workout leggings, which can get unbearably sweaty. It's also very relaxing, and the scent isn't overpowering; instead, it's fresh. I've even used it on my underboob and sides if a bra is scratchy, and it's incredible how different it feels. I've also taken this jar camping, and the cream hasn't separated due to the heat. It's the best purchase I've ever made, and I strongly advise anyone who suffers from friction or chafing, even if they don't ride a bike, to get one!.

I'm going with the Gooch because it works well and lasts a long time
5/5

I've tried a variety of chamois cream brands, including the most popular purple and yellow-labeled varieties. I used Gooch Guard for the first time yesterday, and I was so impressed that when I returned home after a 30-minute drive, I couldn't believe how well it worked. I noticed it was still there where I had applied it after a mile ride. Many other brands "wash" off once you start sweating down there, in my experience. I'm only giving it four stars right now because a jar of this stuff costs almost the same as eight ounces of a more popular brand, but only contains four. I'll come back and update my rating if I find that I don't have to reapply it as often and that it works for a longer period of time after using 2 ounces. For the time being, however, it is a little pricey for the amount of value you receive. br>br>3/15/16 Update: This product has now been used on several long rides by me. My initial assessment of the product remains unchanged- It works well, lasts a long time, and is not washed away. I save this for rides of 50 miles or more, and I use a cheaper brand for shorter rides. I'm about two-thirds of the way through a jar, and I haven't decided whether I'll buy another when this one runs out. This product will be put to its final test when I use it during the upcoming summer months. br>br>UPDATE: May 31, 2016: Now that I've tried Gooch Guard in both cold and hot weather, I can confidently say that it works. It works well in both cases and does not wash away with perspiration for a long time, but it is expensive when compared to other antiperspirants, as other reviewers have pointed out. products that cause chafing The question of its cost boils down to two things: does it work well and does it last long enough to justify its cost, both of which are answered with a resounding YES! For shorter rides, I still use my cheaper cream, but for rides of 40 miles or more, I use Gooch Guard! In terms of how long it will last- I'm about to place an order for a second jar because my current supply is almost depleted. I'm also raising my rating for this product from 4 to 5 stars to show how happy I am with it. br>br>10/17/2016 Update: br>br>My favorite chamois cream is still this one. In addition, the price has been reduced by $2, and delivery is now available through Amazon Prime. br>br>4/22/21 UPDATE: br>br>As of this writing, my less expensive, second-tier chamois cream source has stopped producing it, so I'm back to using Gooch Gurad as my premium go-to. When compared to a well-known Swiss brand, Gooch Guard has reclaimed my top spot for both price and value among the American-made brands that I've tried and liked. Gooch Guard performs just as well as, if not better than, its more expensive Swiss-made counterpart for about $6 less. created a rival I like the menthol in this cream because it creates a soothing barrier between me and my shorts, as well as preventing itch, which can be a problem in the summer. Menthol is toxic to the fungi that cause you to scratch.

I'm an avid cyclist and runner, and this product did not perform well for me
3/5

I cycle five times a week and run three times a week in preparation for Ironman endurance events. I've been using Body Glide and DZ Nuts Chamois cream on a daily basis. Both of these items have performed admirably. I bought Gooch Guard because it was a few dollars less expensive than DZ Nuts and had a good reputation. I can only say that I'm not even halfway through this first jar of product and I'm already repurchasing it. DZ Nuts are being ordered because. As I type this, I'm in pain from chafing. I've had chafing pain for a long time! br>br>First and foremost, I was concerned about how this cream would perform due to its thin, almost watery consistency. It has the same texture as Noxema! If you've ever used the Noxema face wash, you know how smooth and easy it is to apply and remove with water. It's a little like the Gooch Guard!! This cream vanishes with just a little sweating. By comparison, the Body Glide is waxy and sticky, and it lasts for hours; the DZ Nuts is thick and creamy, and it also lasts for hours; and the Gooch Guard didn't last at all on my friction spots; I discovered that I needed to use twice as much. It also provided very little protection, despite the fact that it was used in large amounts. This product did not perform well for me as an avid endurance athlete who trains 8 to 10 hours per week running and cycling, and I would never recommend it to anyone.

I was hesitant to try a new product because the one I like is difficult to come by
5/5

As a woman, I must be cautious about what I use because the ph balance may be off, resulting in female problems later. I've tried a lot of different products and was hesitant to try a new one because the one I like is hard to come by. So, after seeing a post on Facebook from STANS bike shop raving about Gooch Guard, I decided to order some online, despite the fact that STANS bike shop is a bit of a ride on my bike and I need some right away. The first time I used Gooch Guard was for a mountain bike race with a lot of climbing; this is where I really needed it because my shorts were rubbing in the front. I used quite a bit; there was a hint of coolness, but not enough to make you feel compelled to go to the bathroom. Overall, after being in my gear for several hours, I smelled fresh and had no product side effects; additionally, no one around me can smell it, whereas with the last product I had, everyone knew what it was due to its scent. As we girls walked by, the guys made comments. Overall, I discovered yet another product that I can put to use. Its only drawback is that it is only available in limited quantities. I ride a lot, so it'd be a purchase I'd make frequently.
