My size is a medium, and I'm happy with how they fit. My calf measures approximately 16 inches in length and my ankle measures approximately 10 inches in length. It's possible that going small is the way to go. They won't do you any good if they're too loose. I hope this has been of assistance.
That's also where I measure. I purchased the large size, and they held up well during deadlifts. However, I've only ever used them once. br>Because I expect my calves to grow, I chose the large size. br>I'd go medium for a tighter fit if you're not trying to get bigger calves.
There are no right or left sides to this generic. They can be used interchangeably.
It's supposed to go on the outside, but rope climbs are the only time it matters.

These do what they're supposed to do: they protect your shins. They've been useful in protecting my legs during rope climbs and traverses, wall climbs, and other obstacle work that I do for OCR training. They're snug and stay up without being constrictive, and they're relatively simple to put on and take off. The fronts (cushioned side) appear to be holding up well and resisting wear. CONS: br>br> These have a tight-fitting back side that sits against the calf. mesh weave, possibly to aid airflow and keep your legs cool. While there are many benefits to this - Unfortunately, that side isn't as durable as the front, and I've developed a few small holes in them as a result of descending from rope climbs where the rope brushes against them, or possibly from snagging on walls during climbs, etc. They're a little warm for my taste, but I suppose that's a cost of protecting your legs from injury. The absolute worst - and, in my opinion, the most forgivable - The zipper at the ankle is not cushioned or given a fabric flap to keep it from rubbing against the skin, which is a feature of these. During long workouts, especially trail runs and obstacle courses - My skin was rubbed raw by the zipper, which resulted in bleeding. Wearing a long sock underneath would solve the problem, but it would exacerbate the overheating. For the price, I believe the zipper design could be better. br>br>While I believe the benefits outweigh the drawbacks, I believe it is a bit pricey to have flaws like these.
I purchased these because I had previously shorted the box and needed additional protection. Get hard soccer shin guards instead if you're looking to prevent injuries. I cut the box short again today, and while the sleeves helped, they didn't prevent the injury. I had a small scrape and swelling, but no massive hematoma or bloody, dirty wound from direct contact with the box. If you're buying these for box jumps, keep in mind that they're not magic, and you're still probably not very good at them, and you could still get hurt. Scaling is an option.
Based on other reviews and Rock Tape's reputation, I had high expectations for this product, but I was greatly disappointed. I bought these to give my shins a little extra protection when doing box jumps and deadlifts. For context, I'm a 5'10" male who weighs 180 pounds and is in reasonably good shape. My calves aren't particularly muscular; in fact, they're about 15 inches shorter than my arms. My feet aren't particularly large either, as I wear a size 10 shoe. I normally wear a medium in most men's clothing, but because these are unisex, I went with the large. I could barely get the product over my feet right out of the box, and even though I was trying to be gentle (which I shouldn't have to be with gym equipment), the material felt like it could rip at any moment. The length was good after I finally got it on my calf, but it was far too tight, and I couldn't even close the zipper. Furthermore, the padded section of the guards is not only extremely thin, but it also barely covers the vulnerable area of the shin! I had high hopes for this product, but alas, I will have to return it. I might reconsider buying if there was a larger size available for people who are slightly larger than average, but the zipper felt like it would be far too easy to tear when attempting to remove the guards. Unfortunately, unless you're the size of a pre-teen, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone looking for shin protection. teen.
I've used these for deadlifts, rope climbs, and general light lunge padding, and I really like them! They're fantastic for deadlifts, and they've saved my shins! They've definitely helped me work on technique and improve form during rope climbs without the pain of scraping my skin off. The only criticism I have is that they were not as tight or small as I had anticipated, despite the fact that I measured my calf and ordered a medium. Because the back of the shinguard is made of a very stretchy mesh, I believe I could have gotten away with a small and had a more snug fit. However, because the back mesh is stretchy, I was able to pull them up over my knees for impromptu knee pads during a longer lunge workout, so it doesn't bother me as much. I was surprised at how sweaty they became, but I simply hang them outside of my bag on my way home from the gym and they dry quickly. Overall, they've been great!.
My height is 6'3" and my legs are very long. I am in possession of seventeen. 5" calves (cold/unpumped) that are extremely tight. I didn't have any problems with blood flow in my feet (no tingling), but I do wish they were a little bigger. I can't zip all the way around my ankles because the zipper is too short. However, this isn't a major issue. From the top of my shoe to the bottom of my knee, the length is ideal. During deadlifts, the sleeve is kept in place by a silicon band on the inside. The foot stirrups are probably unnecessary, but they are unobtrusive, and the front padding protects my shins from scrapes and bruises. The back is very breathable, but there is some moisture underneath the neoprene, which is to be expected. It was a relief that my pair didn't have all of the newspaper-style graphics, only the red and white logo. Overall, I am very pleased with these, but wish they were a tad larger in diameter. The zippered back can be worn on the inside or outside (I prefer outside), so these are left and right sided, even though the logo is on the same side on both. Only time will tell if they will be able to stretch their legs a little more.
For a long time, I got by with wearing longer socks and pulling them up when it was time to lift on deadlifts day. It's not a problem on some days. Scrapes for the rest. In addition to being annoying, I began to worry about contracting an infection. So I went out in search of something and discovered that a shin brace did exist. I had a couple of Rocktape knee supports on hand, so I decided to try them out. When you're finished with the sets, it's simple to put on, lift, and take off. There will be no more shin bleeds. What's not to like about that?.
