The leather ball is not thrown well by her

Due to its plastic arm being on the softer side, you cannot generate much force with it. While it is possible to throw a leather ball with it, you cannot generate much force using.

This is not a bad thing at all

It works just as well in the nets as it does in the games. This takes a little getting used to, and may not offer you the same sort of grip as the expensive models, but once you get the hang of it, you can use it just like any other pen.
