Yes, I do sleep with mine on most nights. It gets a little tight when my hand gets warm, so I loosen it slightly.

Is this more appropriate for a man's or a woman's hand?

Because I have a large hand, it is a good fit for me. extremely relaxing

Is this something that can be thrown in the washing machine?

Yes - To get the best results, remove the metal rod before washing and close the velcro tabs.

The only thing wrong (so far) with this Splint brace is the plastic (thumb) ring, so I didn't give it a 5 star rating. It burrows into the skin, resulting in skin breakage and blisters. Underneath it, I have to put on a bandage. Otherwise, this is the only brace I've found that is not only comfortable to wear all day (with a few hour breaks), but that I sometimes forget it's even on (until the plastic ring on my thumb causes me pain).

It performs admirably and has proven to be extremely durable thus far. It has a strong stabilizing/restrictive effect, which is exactly what I require. My trigger thumb symptoms have greatly improved since I started wearing this brace at night while sleeping.
