The following is an excerpt from I agree, Gary. That's a good question. There is no certification process for helmets on which Lexishields can be mounted, since NOCSAE does not have any standards in place for helmet additions. However, test results showing the shield in place exceeded NOCSAE standards. H. represents the Intertek company. When testing the helmet with the shield attached, White concluded "The helmet with the shield attached performed 44% better than the baseline helmet without the shield when impacted at location 19 at 3" The speed has increased by 3% to 46 When high velocity drops were conducted on position 19, the helmet impact attenuation parameter exceeded the allowable severity index of 1200 on several occasions. Based on the same data with the shield attached, the severity index averaged 908 points. 65% of the helmets with shields performed better when impacting with a lacrosse ball at 80 miles per hour on position 19. LexiShield is an excellent service. You can read the full report at www.pscpro.com. We will pursue different methods of certification as they present themselves. So far, those goalies who have used a LexiShield have only given it positive feedback. Thanks for taking the time to contact us. If you have any further questions, please let us know.
Despite our belief that LexiShields are legal for official use, it is not our decision. The US Lacrosse Organization is committed to releasing a statement on the legality of LexiShields in February. As of this writing, no statement has been issued. Based on the premise of silence implying consent, we proceed.

When they are attached, they are somewhat difficult to attach, but they fit nicely on the cascade R helmet once they are on. Logically, I think it makes sense, but I'm not sure of the science behind it. As of this moment, my daughter (varsity goalie) has taken a few balls to the dome without suffering a concussion. Several are on each of our goalie helmets at the lax club after we bought them. As far as the refs are concerned, we have not experienced any problems.
I bought this for my lacrosse goalie daughter after she had a concussion and then suffered some symptoms from getting hit again a few weeks later. The pad has been administered a few times without causing any symptoms for my mother.
We recently upgraded to a new Cascade Youth S helmet and the shield would not stay on the helmet. This was the case with my son's old helmet, too.
I Highly Recommend It. In late 2016, I was introduced to this innovative equipment, and now I have goalies at the collegiate and high school levels wearing the LexiShield during every practice and/or game. A goalie's helmet can be attached/detached from the unit in 60 seconds or less, thanks to the simple yet sublime design. During practice or a game, the goalie's equipment is of very small weight and it does not impede his performance in any way. Any goalie who has previously suffered a concussion, or any coach or trainer who wants to provide additional protection to a goalie during OTAs should consider purchasing this product.
As soon as he used it for the first time, he took three shots off his shield. A helmet is a must these days if you ride a bicycle. LexiShields have many benefits, so there is no reason not to wear one.
