Fits both my 13-hand Haflinger and a 16-hand paint horse.
Although it will fit, a CSI saddle pad is recommended. They're a little pricey, but you'll get a whole new horse out of it. I don't think they're available on Amazon, according to CSI. I hope this has been of assistance. If you were nearby, I would give you my pad, which I purchased.
For a temporary low-key lesson, I used it with my small children to teach them western synthetic. I'm not sure how well it'd hold up against a larger leather western saddle. A western saddle's shape is designed to distribute weight more evenly across a horse's back. So, if you need more support for your horse, I recommend looking for a western pad with a wider base and more cushion.
No, you don't need to use another pad with this one. This pad is soft and comfortable for your horse, and it is thick enough to eliminate the need for additional padding beneath it.

This is tucked away beneath an Australian stock saddle that has been modified for horse archery. I ride a rented Icelandic most of the time, but having this pad allows me to transfer my saddle to other horses as needed. It's still in great shape after several months of use. This is an excellent item.
My horse is getting a little muscly. This saddle pad is fantastic - it's exactly what I've been looking for. Because my horse's topline is muscling up, I needed something less padded than my Ovation pad with memory foam and cotton pad. This is ideal because it has a nice curved shape along the spine and does not cling to his withers tightly. In addition, I won't have to deal with multiple pads, straps, or Velcro - I can put this on in a matter of seconds and be ready to go. Love it - I'm about to place another order so that I can wash one every few weeks. Last but not least - It's a good size so that when I switch between my AP and my jump saddle, the pad isn't too small for the AP and there's enough room all around for good coverage.
This saddle pad was desperately needed on an older horse with high whithers and a sway back.
So far, it's done a good job of filling a void on my Paso's back in the shoulder area and top line; it doesn't quite match my saddle perfectly, but it's close. The fabric is pleasant to the touch and will be simple to clean. The inserts, on the other hand, are like cheap foam. I don't mind because it does the job.
Apart from the inserts, I like almost everything about this pad. These can easily be replaced with cutouts from a yoga mat, for example. It's perfect for my high-speed Internet needs. ish curvy, withered a saddle and a backed horse- fitting. These appear to be made in the same factory as the Mattes and are identical in appearance. Can't go wrong for less than half the price!.
The memory foam isn't up to par. It's just Styrofoam sheets. I'd like to see a version of this product with higher-quality memory foam inserts.
This is a ruse. This is a phony item. There were no correction pad inserts. It was not a good purchase and the money was not well spent. It was a one-layer pad that was simple and thin.
Even with the inserts, it's a very thin bad, and after about a month of use, it's way too thin. Also, the pad is smaller and barely fit my Aussie saddle. I wish I had returned it sooner, but it's too late now.
