Yes. It comes with one that can be removed entirely.
No, I do not believe that is true. The goal is to provide some cushion for the horse when riding bareback without the use of stirrups.

Hello, I purchased an adult size for my 16hh horse. I also purchased the kid's version for my daughter's pony, who is only 11hh. If your daughter's horse is 14hh or more, I would recommend a horse size, but anything smaller would be fine with a pony size.br>Hope this helps!
Selected User Reviews For Best Friend Eastern Style Bareback Saddle Pad
This pad comes highly recommended. We were eager to replace our old, worn bareback pad after shopping around for a few years (not joking). We were waiting for a good deal because I didn't want to pay $70 for some padding with a strap. We were fortunate, I suppose, because the Best Friend pad in "child" navy/maroon was only $34. When we bought it, it was only 49 dollars, which is the lowest price I've seen in years for a bareback pad. That said, the quality of this pad is well worth the higher price; the suede is soft and provides excellent grip for my children, and there is a nice sweat-wicking layer beneath the pad. Waffle neoprene that wicks sweat away from the body. The cinch is also of decent quality (I had intended to replace it, but we're keeping it) and fits our pony perfectly. br>br>We ordered "child" size because our pony is 12hh and 720 pounds, and she wears a 28" western cinch. I'd have to check the length of her English girth, but we have a child size saddle, so it's longer than it would be otherwise.
I took a chance based on the reviews, and I'm glad I did. The rule does not apply to this pad. It's very high quality for a very low price, and it fits any average horse perfectly. It's a fantastic resource. My daughter doesn't slide to one side or the other like she used to with bareback saddle pads. I can't speak to how easy it is to clean because I've only had to wipe it down so far, but given the suede-like texture, I'm expecting it to be a breeze. I think that'll be a winner, too, if you like texture.
Sparky, my work horse, received the Hunter Green color in "horse" size. I'm very pleased with the pad's quality. It keeps me tidy while also providing me with a comfortable environment. The cinch can be taken off, but it's not a big deal. It can also be used to transport a draft horse. It was the perfect fit for our Belgian and Gypsy Vanner. Because of Best Friend Bareback Pad, Sparky and I have become closer!.
I purchased the adult/horse size, which fits my 13-year-old perfectly. 2hh 760lb pony mare performs admirably. Because there's plenty of room to make it bigger or smaller, I believe this would work for a wide range of horses. I was concerned that the adult would be too big for my mare because she is a pony and I am a small adult, but it fits her perfectly. This pad is extremely comfortable to ride on and appears to be of excellent quality. I can't speak to the longevity because I just got it, but I'm very pleased with it. It's attractive, doesn't slip, and is simple to put on.
I read a lot of reviews before buying it, and I'm a little disappointed. The padding isn't quite as thick as some of the reviews I read or the product description suggest. The seat has less padding than the front, which has the handle and therefore does not require padding. But the biggest letdown is that it does roll, and it also slides back. It's not the safest or most comfortable bareback for learning balance, but it'll do for a quick morning hack when you don't feel like putting on a heavy saddle.
This purchase has made me extremely happy! I enjoy riding barefoot, but I despise getting hair, dirt, and sweat on my jeans. This item is exactly what you need. I was worried it would be too big for my 14-year-old Quarter horse. 1 hh), but the girth of the pad can be adjusted on both sides for a custom fit. There's plenty of room for a bigger or smaller horse to fit in. It's very comfortable, and it stays put without sliding around, even when the girth isn't tightened nearly as much as a regular saddle.
An English girth makes it easy to fasten. Comfortably fits a variety of horse sizes. Allows for the use of stirrups. Less riding time without the discomfort associated with bareback riding. Additionally, it prevents the accumulation of horsehair on your pants. Riders can use the grab strap to keep their balance without causing the horse's mane to be stripped. It appears to be in good condition. My only criticism is that some of the billet holes on one side of the bareback pad are a little too small.
I'm going to get another one, but this time it'll be full size because I have a big horse! This is a fantastic saddle for a quick ride on a pony or horse, and I highly recommend it.
