My dogs never seem to last very long after ordering a dozen " flirt poles " to exercise them. This lunge whip, on the other hand, is extremely effective. I primarily use it as a flirt pole to keep my hyperactive dogs entertained. If a 90-pound German Shepherd, a 60-pound American Staffordshire, and a 50-pound Golden Retriever can't destroy it, you've found the right product!.
I'm using this as a 'flirt pole' for my dog to address her PREY drive, and I've attached a fun toy to the end, which she enjoys chasing. Once she's "caught up with prey," the whip is strong enough to withstand her pulling against it.
This is a high-quality lunging whip that can be used on a regular basis. This is ideal for me because my horse is a slacker when it comes to lunging.
This whip is extremely long and stout, but it is extremely heavy!.
I have a heavy feeling about this whip. After 10 minutes of use, it becomes tedious. This, I believe, is due to the rubber, which also extends the life of the product.
I bought this with the intention of tying a toy on the end for my hyperactive German Shepherd puppy to chase. He's covered a lot of ground in pursuit of this at this point! He has a habit of catching the rope and chewing on it instead of the toy "bait," but the rope shows no signs of wear from his sharp little teeth. He's also managed to wrestle the whip away from me on occasion and grab the rubber handle, which has held up well against his shark-toothed mouth. When one's teeth aren't clenched around the rubber handle or the hand holding it, it's quite comfortable to hold. This is the only thing that has kept me from losing my mind. The quality is excellent, and I'm confident we'll be able to get a lot more mileage out of it!.
Allow your dog (or cat) to chase it around by wrapping the end of it around the toy animal's neck.
This was purchased for my dog as a flirt pole. When I had horses, I used lunging whips, so I knew this would be a better deal than the dog flirt poles. Not once did I feel let down. The Weaver whip is sturdy yet flexible, long enough to give my large dog plenty of room to chase, and it appears to be well-made. It's light enough that I believe I could add some fishing line to the end to extend the lure's range. My daughter can also use it with her horses, which is a plus.
