I was intrigued after seeing a 4-year-old friend's child wearing one of these in our pool. This, I was told, is what they use to teach kids how to swim and how to balance themselves in the water. After that, I went ahead and placed an order for this one. My 4-year-old daughter had been wearing a puddle jumper, but it had stretched out with use. I like how her arms are free to move and play because she is sitting lower on the torso. This also enables her to go underwater (intentionally, not by accident) in order to obtain swim rings and explore with her goggles. We haven't used the puddle jumper since we got this. It's made of a thick foam material, and the belt and buckle appear to be very sturdy. She is a big fan of purple. She can easily buckle and unbuckle the buckle, but she cannot unbuckle it. That, in my opinion, is a good thing. I strongly advise these for children who want to learn to swim but need their parents' peace of mind.
Our 9-year-old daughter received the Junior aquajogger. It was bought for my daughter's birthday in mid-May 2019 and was first used on Memorial Day weekend. The following weekend, as well as the weekend of June 22nd, it was put to use. The stitching holding the buckle came apart on Saturday, and it was too late to return it, so we chalked it up to a bad stitching job and bought a second Aquajogger. My daughter's SECOND aquajogger's stitching came undone before she even stepped into the water. We use this for peace of mind because my daughter is of average height and weight and a good swimmer; however, I can assure you that I will never have peace of mind with this product, and I am returning the second aquajogger as well as the new one we purchased for our son. This is a product that I would not recommend to a parent.
This Aqua Jogger Junior is fantastic for my children. They are six and four years old, respectively, and thirty-five years old. 42lbs. The belts are adjustable and secure in their fit. I decided to buy these belts for my children to wear at the camp pool. These are the swim belts that were used during my children's swim lessons, and after seeing how well they worked and how safe they kept my children, I decided to purchase them for their own use. These belts allow them to maintain an upright position or keep them afloat while swimming, whether they are lying on their stomach or back. They were in complete control of their bodies at all times while wearing these. They're so at ease with it that they're not afraid to jump into the pool with it on. I would strongly advise any new swimmer to use them.
My four and five-year-olds have taken swim lessons, but our pool is quite deep, and I find that having this belt on them allows me to relax and enjoy things more. I like how it gives them more mobility than a life jacket and forces them to use their swimming abilities - However, for young swimmers, it provides some safety and peace of mind.
This appears to be a good product, but after three uses in the pool, we discovered that it was not working for our child. She isn't easily irritated, but she developed a rash under her arms and down her side while wearing this, and a rash on her higher belly if it moved too much (which it does). Yes, she was in a chlorinated pool, but she has also used other products. We have not tested in other bodies of water because she has never had the rash unless she is using this product. It isn't worth it to keep using it. I wish you the best of luck and hope that this information is useful.
My three-year-old grandson is learning to swim for the first time. I was concerned about how we would keep him safe in the back yard pool without resorting to a bulky adult-size life vest (most age-appropriate devices have a 50-pound weight limit). I bought the Jr Swim Jogger and am very happy with it. br>Because he is so young and needs to learn core control and not to drink the water, we also pair this with arm floats. He quickly gained confidence in his ability to paddle across the pool without my assistance after only a few trips. (Of course, I was right next to him. ).
Spina bifida affects my 7-year-old daughter. This was suggested as a replacement for her puddle jumper, which she had outgrown. She put it to use for the first time only a few days ago. It was a little scary to have so much freedom in the water at first, but after 30 minutes, she was swimming all over the pool! She walked in exclaiming, "I love it!".
This concludes the discussion. I've tried others, but this one is her favorite because it doesn't chafe or ride up.
