There are various grades of merino wool. The thread count determines the fabric's value as well. The best example is whether you buy a suit from a discount store or an upscale men's store for a low price.
I ordered a medium and am a size 8. This size was a little too big for me. So, if you're a woman who wears a size 8, I'd recommend the small. That's just me, though, because I don't like my socks to be too big and bunch up. Thankfully, my niece, who is a size 10, liked them.
These aren't quite as thick as my Thorlos- I use them for running (about 20 miles per week) and find them to be very comfortable. In hot, humid weather, this is ideal.

My first pair of merino wool socks (for sweaty feet) were too thin and didn't have a high proportion of Merino wool to other materials - As a result, it had a difficult time absorbing moisture. As a result, I went online to look for these and a different type to try. br>br>I ordered the size I hoped would fit me (I have slender feet, and most socks are too long for me): I'm a size 7 and I'm not afraid to show it. I went down a size from a size 5 to a size 6 - They fit perfectly until I washed and dried them (size 7 was the cutoff). Because they are made of a thicker material, they have shrunk slightly and now fit a little short. The moisture wicking, on the other hand, is exactly what I was hoping for. The material on the toes and heels is thicker than I expected, but the socks are very comfortable to wear. br>br>Yes, my feet sweat, but they aren't as uncomfortable as they were in regular socks/sporty socks for women. Being on my feet all day isn't nearly as painful as it used to be now that I take off my shoes at break and lunch. I can feel the socks are wet when I touch them with my hand, but my feet aren't as achey as they used to be. )
I'd buy these again, but in the next size up (hoping that they aren not too large or long as is 99% of the socks I buy). br>br>The other pair of MW socks are too long and thin, and they make my feet uncomfortable when they're wet. ***sighsbr>Be aware of the percentage of MW in merino wool socks, as well as where the wool is placed for your needs, when shopping for merino wool socks. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> 4/13/19br>I've been wearing these socks as my daily work socks because of how well they wick moisture. Each night after work, you won't have to deal with a stinky feet mess. br>br>I recently purchased new shoes that are a perfect fit; Unfortunately, there isn't much space for these thicker, cushier moisture-wicking socks. When it comes to cotton socks, go back to basics. After three days, I removed my shoes and exhaled deeply. My feet were filthy and smelled bad. boooo This just goes to show how great these socks are in terms of overall comfort, moisture wicking, and odor control. br>br>((Off to order new thinner merino wool socks, at least until my new shoes stretch out and I can wear these little lovelies again.
If you want to feel like your feet are surrounded by clouds, however, BUY THESE. These are my new favorite merino socks (and the pink is perfect for the gym!). Zensah (available on Amazon) is another thick merino athletic favorite of mine. I gave up on trendy merino brands a long time ago because merino isn't a particularly durable fabric (hence the need to handwash merino sweaters and their proclivity to pill), and they make them so thin. The trendy merino brands [are] expensive and feel great, but they wear out far too quickly for the price; in my experience, the thick merino lasts the longest. br>br>I have bunions and a hammertoe, and these shoes have literally saved my life! No more blisters! br>In addition, I suffer from severe neuropathy in one foot as a result of a nerve injury, which necessitates pain medication. These socks have helped to alleviate this, and I now require less medication as a result of them. These issues also result in holes forming quickly, and these socks have now lasted me over a year. I'm only now starting to notice thin areas over my bunion. So, while I was out shopping for socks today, I decided to write a review. br>br>Another thing I'd like to mention is that I have sweaty feet and these shoes have no foot odor. Because of my neuropathy, I have to wear socks all the time, and I can literally wear these for three days before changing them [I usually have to remind myself that it's been two days]. 3 days]; My feet would smell after a day if I didn't wear merino. So anyone who claims these don't contain merino wool is mistaken! That is something I can vouch for! I adore these because they have the undeniable softness of merino wool. Finally, a cute, high-quality sock within my price range!.
These socks are fantastic! I bought them on the spur of the moment, and they've exceeded my expectations. For light hiking or just day-to-day wear, the padding on the toe and heel provides a comfortable cushion. day wear. The foot bed is made of a much thinner material, but it is still very durable. I've never had a problem with them slipping down around my ankles or pooling at my toes. They're no-show and keep my feet sweat-free even during long gym sessions. To give you an idea of my size, I'm a woman's size 7. The small is perfect for me. I'm a size 5 and the small is perfect for me.
Most of the time, his feet are dry and odorless. Because wool pill or knaps so quickly, I wash and hang dry them. These are pilling a little, but that's to be expected. The sizing is accurate according to the chart; we purchased the white and they have held up well in the wash. We'll probably get more, but we'll have to wait and see how long they last; I got him three pairs and he wears them all the time, so only time will tell. I'll be happy if they give us a year of service.
I've never owned a pair of athletic socks as good as these. They wick extremely well, have nearly eliminated the foot odor I was getting with synthetic athletic socks, and are extremely comfortable. I use them for racquetball, pickleball, mountain biking, hiking, and other activities. I tried a few different wool running socks to see which one I liked best, and these are by far the most comfortable, with extra padding on the sole and an elastic band around the ankle. If you spend a lot of time in wet conditions or have particularly sweaty feet, you'll appreciate how well these absorb moisture.
These socks are a huge letdown; they're overly thick and have a thick cotton/poly sole. Soggy rather than moisture wicking.
It's ideal for day-to-day wear. I used them for a 9-hour shift one day. They were fantastic, extremely comfortable, and my feet didn't stink at the end of the day. I did, however, put them on for another day of work after washing them. My toe starts to pop out about halfway through. But, hey, I still have my good-smelling feet, so it's not like I'm throwing money away.
