It has a solid feel to it. Punches and kicks will be absorbed because of the firmness, but there will be some give. Because the holding straps are fairly spacious/loose-feeling, it can be difficult to hold depending on the person and purpose/activity. As a result, the straps appear to be at risk of breaking easily, but they have proven to be strong and show no signs of real weakness or breakage. It is a big hit with the kids.
