I did, in fact, return this item! I wouldn't buy it again if it were up to me! The item was not suitable for my needs, but it might be suitable for a child or a beginner in martial arts. This will NOT work for you if you have previous martial arts experience and a good punch or kick. The majority of the punch or kick will be absorbed by your body! The tension you used to prepare for the blow will leave you sore the next day. You'll notice that when you use a heavy glove or pad, the glove or pad absorbs the majority of the impact. It's not very big for me, but it's a great size for my kid to practice with, and the thickness and high quality leather make it even better. When he hits and punches this bag, he feels more at ease. People who frequently practice kicking and punching moves will find this item to be very durable.
I was expecting these to be of poor quality, but I was pleasantly surprised. The foam is a little stiff for my tastes, but I expect it to soften with use. I was expecting it to be a cheap chinese meal. I was surprised by what we received, and the kids seem to enjoy it so far.
I use these for my 360 defense drills at home so that my ever-improving Krav Maga skills don't get in the way. My patient partner's arms aren't beaten up by hitting my blocks over and over again. Definitely not for the commercial market. However, because they do not weigh five pounds, they are of poor quality. They weigh 7 pounds each and can be used to repeatedly throw 360-degree hits. These are a great tool at a great price if you understand their limitations; they're more like a focus mitt than a serious punch kick shield. Unless, of course, you're a minor.
It's a catch-22 situation. The item is displayed as a set. However, there is only one. Poorly constructed and in no way stable. It feels like you're holding a flimsy strapped synthetic leather pillow. I wouldn't even allow my children to play with this filth. Someone is going to get hurt; this is a complete money grab; save your cash!.
The only reason it doesn't get five stars is because the hold is a little uncomfortable for me. I've used similar pads before, and they have a more secure grip. This isn't bad, and the price is great, so I'd buy it again, but I'd prefer something a little more manageable. With a strong trainee, this must be held in two hands.
It's too difficult to kick with and too uncomfortable to strike with. I suppose it would be acceptable if a small child struck it, but not for an adult.
The price is reasonable, and the quality is adequate for children of this age. Based on the product's weight and material, I don't believe this pad will last long enough for adult use.
