Is it really that difficult or are some people just delicate little flowers? I have the Everlast shieId and can't imagine it's that difficult. ?

I used these at the MMA gym where I took a fitness class (I'm a 5'2", 125 lb woman), and while I still wore boxing gloves, these were softer than the one I just got. which is extremely hard, but I believe it will soften with use, similar to the ones at the gym. It's not too difficult for kicks, but it's too difficult for ground and pound.

This doesn't look like it's 8 inches thick. What is the actual thickness of it?

I'm guessing it's somewhere between 5 and 6 inches. I'm not sure that 8 inches is necessary. It's something I and my son use, and it's great. As has been stated by others, It's not as soft as a Wavemaster, but that's fine because it's fun to kick and has the perfect curve. I also appreciate the firm, tight handles (on some, the handles are too soft or loose, and the holder loses control). It's a fantastic pad to have.

The vinyl or chemical odor (I assume from the outer cover) stinks. Is this something that anyone else is having, and if so, does it go away?

Mine started to fade after a short time. I keep it out in the open with my other equipment so it can air out.

The shield appears to be of good quality, but I wish it had more kicking cushion. It's a little thin, so if you kick hard, the person holding it won't get as much of a shield or protection; it's probably fine for beginners, light people, or kids, but not for heavy duty or advanced kicks.

This is one of the most effective shields I've ever used as a fighter

I've seen a lot of people complain about how hard this shield is, but it's not, it's the PERFECT pad for abusing. My partners and I are racing to get this shield before anyone else, and we are in love with it!.

This pad is extremely durable. Straight-line attacks, such as punch-and-runs, are ideal. Knees, push kicks, and side kicks are all examples of kicks that can be used. etc.
