The blade is a Chinese copy, but it's been holding up well so far. I used this weapon to compete in a novice tournament, and I won. It's a little blade-heavy, but that's to be expected. The thumb pad has a textured surface, which I prefer. The socket was stiff and held the prongs firmly in place with excellent contact; the assembly was very tight. I haven't been able to unscrew the pommel by hand, which I think is a good thing. As previously stated, the blade made it through a five-person novice tournament with four pool bouts and two DEs (a total of 50 points). On the blade and guard, there are nicks and battle damage, but only scratches and small burrs. There's nothing a little light blade sanding can't fix. If one of the blades becomes severely damaged, the extra blade extends the weapon's life. I wouldn't use it in a tournament where both players strike hard because I'm not confident in the blade's ability to withstand high-speed impact.
I teach stage broadsword combat, and I'm looking to expand my lighter sword collection. This isn't one of those flimsy hollow blades; instead, it's a solid and sturdy blade.
We couldn't figure out how to keep the blades from rusting, despite their apparent strength.
The Sabre has a lovely appearance and feels light while holding a lot of power. It also came with a spare blade, which is a great bonus.
It works well; I haven't broken a blade in almost a year of ownership, and electricity flows freely through it.
It's an excellent training option.
This is something that my grandson enjoys. It's solid and well-balanced.
