A quarter horse/thoroughbred cross is referred to as an appendix. Yes, the horse size should be fine, and you can use your own English girth with this surcingle, which I find works better than the one that comes with it.
Yes, you certainly could. For added comfort, I wear a standard girth with mine.
The pony size has a circumference of 72".
My OTTB is dressed in a 32-inch western cinch. I had to substitute a regular (longer) English girth for the one that came with it.
Selected User Reviews For Tough-1 Neoprene Lined 12-Ring Nylon Surcingle
I purchased it based on previous reviews claiming that the horse size was large enough to fit real horses. Unfortunately, this was too big for my frail young TB. He's 16. 1hh, but underweight and narrow. I need to use a different, much longer girth, but the surcingle's lowest rings are still quite high, so I end up hooking the side reins to the billet straps instead. br>br>I'd also read that the padding was adequate for people with high withers, but mine feels a little thin. I've discovered that my moderate-intensity workouts help me stay in shape If I place folded no-bow wraps on either side of his withers to relieve the pressure a little more, withered TB is much happier. br>br>However, the overall quality is acceptable for the price, and I've discovered that I *can* make it work with a few tweaks. This would be ideal for a large pony or a small, narrow horse with very little withers.
I like how this product has a small amount of stretch in the girth, as I have a half-inch waist. It's a tight fit, but it works for him. He also has a lot of skin behind his elbow that has been rubbed raw by other girths, but this one does not. This product has exceeded my expectations.
This is something I've done a couple of times. It fits my 16-h Thoroughbred well, with some room to spare for when he fills out. I haven't tried it on the pony yet, but it appears to be able to cinch down to fit his slender frame. The girth buckles catch on the metal grommets, but it appears to be well-constructed. This makes it a little more difficult to tighten quickly, and I wouldn't be surprised if the grommets don't last very long as a result. So far, I'm very pleased with my purchase.
It fits all of my horses, ranging in size from 14 HH to 16. 2 HH. It's a fantastic tool for learning. The quality of the product is excellent.
For the price, this is a pretty nice surcingle that makes lunging a lot easier and has a lot of rings to attach stuff to. The only negative aspect is that the straps aren't made of leather. So the nylon straps are losing their little metal holes for strapping. However, I do not believe that any functionality will be lost as a result of this change. br>I am extremely pleased with the product and would enthusiastically recommend it.
It's ideal for my requirements and sits comfortably on my horse. I'm not sure if the model has changed since some of the reviews, but I'm glad I didn't believe the critics who said it was too small. 15 is the age of my mare. She's 5 feet tall and, while not a large QH, she's far from petite, with a few notches on both sides to fill out. br>I believe that the majority of people would agree that the quality is excellent.
With the exception of workhorse breeds, it can handle any yearling or two-year-old horse. The padding is sufficient to allow the horse to be used for an extended period of time without becoming exhausted. There are also enough rings for the trainer to place the lines wherever he or she wants them.
I was concerned about the quality given the price, but it appears to be well constructed. Although I have only used it a few times, the rings appear to be secure and large enough to accommodate my clips. Fits perfectly on my large pony or stocky horse.
