My 16-hand gelding is a half-Arab/quarter-horse cross. Because he lacks the refined arabian head, do you think this would fit him? thanks?

It is appropriate for my age of sixteen. 1 APHA gelding fits the bill perfectly, despite the fact that he is not refined. It has a lot of flexibility. I ride a variety of horses with mine. It's one of my most prized tack pieces! Buy it!

Will this prevent a horse from spitting a bit?

It appears to be the case. The main reason I use it is to prevent them from opening their mouth and receiving a pressure release.

To encourage her to keep her mouth shut, I use a draft on which I ride Western. With a few extra holes punched in, it just about fits her. There's a lot of wiggle room here. We did a good job, and it was a good price.
