Two pieces of leather have been broken

I loved how simple this tool was, and was so disappointed when the leather snapped in half and the ring pulled out just as it was fastened to the walker. Before I could even get my guy started, the walker was still there and the ring had been pulled out. The leather appeared to be old and cracked, and it was extremely dry.
