I figured my time was worth more than these, and I was pleasantly surprised by their quality. I'm not sure about scuffing on a hard surface because we played on the grass. Playing was a lot of fun. They appear to be well-crafted and have a fantastic appearance.
Because we have a large family, I bought these with the intention of having extra bolas. Thing is- They weren't the same colors as the ones shown on the website. The "red" bolas were orange, and the "blue" bolas were a lighter shade of blue than the Amazon Basics Ladder Ball game's blue bolas. When throwing the blue bolas, one of the strings became untied. Colors have faded, so we only use them if we have no other option.
A plain plastic bag was used to package it. I'm guessing these are being made in someone's garage, which is fine with me. They're still less expensive than making one set myself, and they're functional. One thing to note is that they come with a 16" rope, despite the fact that standard size is 13" according to what I've read online. To shorten the rope and keep the balls from sliding to one side or the other, I tied an extra knot in front of the balls. Also, the rope stretched a little after a few games, but tying an extra knot on the ends is an easy way to shorten it again.
The balls have a nice paint job and feel like real golf balls. The colors are gleaming and vibrant. The ropes appear to be a little thin, and one of them has already begun to fray a little - or it could have happened in that manner. I expect I'll have to replace the ropes at some point, but it's not a major issue. For the time being, they serve their purpose admirably. This is a set that I would strongly recommend.
Great price, and they've survived the summer of being thrown around like they're being used to take down a big game or the one neighbor who isn't at the block party but is ready to file a noise complaint when quiet hours arrive. That's right, Ron, we're well aware of the situation. We are all aware of this.
After reading the reviews for our new ladder toss game, I decided to pick these up as a backup set. These are actual golf balls, as opposed to the bolas that came with the set. One of the knots came undone, but it was relatively simple to retie by threading the rope back through the holes.
Tossing these balls is a lot of fun. This product lives up to its name. I deducted a star because I couldn't resist my dog's urge to chew.
These easily bounce off each other like real golf balls do. It makes the ladderball game more enjoyable for adults; however, I believe the plastic balls are safer for the grandchildren.
