Because the latches hold VERY well, I don't believe I have ever locked the case, and I have never been tempted to do so. There have never been a slew of unexpected cases that have come up for me. My favorite part of this case is that it has so many intriguing aspects. A foot on one of the plastic feet was broken It would be helpful if those feet were more rubberized, since they seem too weak to endure much more than careful cradling. It would have been easier just to have no feet on them since they needed to be set down so gently. As I was setting it down, I would set it gently so that it would not damage the case.
