Questions & Answers
To be honest, I was hesitant because it had the trope of requiring a king to awaken a queen. It's an enjoyable game for both boys and girls. "8 and up" is debatable, as I'd say 4-years-old and up. The children under the age of seven seem to enjoy it the most.
I'd say it's too complicated unless your 5-year-old can do mental math like 2 3 4 = 9. Everyone who says it's appropriate for a four-year-old does so with the proviso that the parent be present.
In fact, I believe it is appropriate for adults. We had a lot of fun playing it with the family this weekend. I enjoy board games, especially the technically challenging ones that require a lot of time to read the rules and play, etc., but I also enjoy this simple game!
To begin, add the numbers one by one from one to ten. However, as your child's math skills improve, why not introduce addition and subtraction? This game is so much fun that you can customize it to make it more challenging for your children. My kindergartener prefers addition, but I see subtraction becoming a possibility in the near future.

This game has a lot of charm and has been around for a long time: Kids get sneaky math practice, it's simple to learn, and it's not boring for parents (I'm talking about chutes and ladders). Please perish in a fiery hell. ), and was created by a 6-year-old girl (with some parental assistance). br>br>The poor messaging is the reason for the low star rating. The waistlines of most of the queens are razor-sharp. Women have never been so tightly corseted in my life. It's completely absurd. These women make Disney princesses appear to be overweight. My other gripe is that these poor ladies have no agency in the game; they are dozing off. A king can rouse them or a knight can kidnap them, but the ladies have no power of their own. In chess, a queen has significantly more power than a king. Booooo!.
For fun and quality, I give this game five stars! The only reason I gave it three stars is to draw your attention to my review, because I fell in love with it after playing it at my sister's house in another state. We went home and placed our own order, only to discover that we had a different version of the game when we started playing! The anniversary tin version of this game, which has MORE queens, was purchased by my sister. In addition, I believe there is a third king. There are six more cards in this version than there are in this version. When I found out, I was devastated because the other version has a "strawberry queen" who is immune to all sleeping potions and knights, meaning that if you get the strawberry queen, no one will be able to take her away from you. This adds a new dimension to the game, making it even more enjoyable! We made the ladybug queen our "immune" queen because we didn't have a strawberry queen in this version. I'd like to return this copy and replace it with the other. It'll only set you back around $2-$3. More cards will set you back $3 more. It was well worth the expense. When there are more queens to go around, it's easier to play in groups of four or five people. I understand that if there are four players, all you need is four queens or 40 points to win, but the game moves too quickly. As a result, we always find that attempting to capture five queens is a lot more enjoyable. When there are only two of us playing, we will sometimes play until all of the queens are off the table or until someone has 7 or 8 queens. There weren't enough queens to go around when we played with four people yesterday, and three queens multiplied by four people equals 12 queens. Queens are still in short supply! So, heed my advice and purchase the alternate version! If you're going to spend $10 on a game, spend the extra few dollars to get the bigger version. I like how both versions of the game come in small boxes and don't take up a lot of space in my game closet, which is already quite full! In this version, the following queens are included:
1. Queen of the Rosesbr>br>br>br>br>b Queen of Pancakesbr>3. queen of the moonbr>br>br>br>br>br queen of the rainbowbr>br>br>br>br>br queen of the starfishbr>6. br>br>br>br>br>br>br>b queen of the catsbr>br>br>br>br>br>b Queen of the ladybugsbr>9. queen of the heartbr>br>br>br>br>br queen of the cakebr>br>br>br>br>br queen of the peacocksbr>br>br>br>br>br> The sunflower queenbr>br>In the larger version, there are also the following queens: Butterfly queen, strawberry queen, ice cream queen, and book queen are some of the titles that have been given to her. br>br>I hope this information assists you in making your final purchase decision. It's not a matter of if you should get it or not; it's a matter of which one! This is an amazing game. There's one more thing. We played with two friends in the first week we had the game, and both of them ended up ordering their own copies, of course the larger versions. It is a hit with everyone. My husband wants to play when he gets home from work, and my 6-year-old wants to play as well, so it's a win-win situation. As a result, we're making some great family memories. Thank you very much, Gamewright!.
We played it over and over with our 6-year-old grandson, and neither of us got tired of it. To begin, I recommend playing with three players because it is quicker and easier to pick up. We've tried it with five people, and while it takes longer, it's still a lot of fun. What gives this book four stars? My grandson's set came in a tin box, so we played with him at his place. It had more queens (16), knights, kings, potions, dragons, and wands than the previous edition. So this was a much smaller set (12 queens, for example) when I got it. I would have gone to the store where my daughter-in-law worked if I had known the difference. The one in the tin box was purchased by my law. In any case, it's a fantastic game!.
We have a few other games from this publisher and had heard good things about it, so we decided to give it a try. Our 4-year-old son's favorite game is this one! The 7-year-old enjoys it as well, and it is not tedious for mom or dad to sit and play. It's fantastic for assisting our older son with math problems, but I will say that this is the game's only minor flaw. You have a deck of cards in your hand that you can trade if they form an equation. 1 9 = 10 is an example. This is difficult for a four-year-old, but he works hard at it.
I like how quick it is and how good it is for my children's addition practice. I'm not sure why it says it's suitable for children aged 8 and up. Maybe it's because playing math on their own can be difficult for them. But I have a great time playing with my five and seven-year-olds. I just finished assisting my five-year-old in completing the addition problem. What better way to encourage her to learn than by playing a game she enjoys? I'm a snob when it comes to giving games five stars. Adults should not play this game alone without children, in my opinion. However, it is a solid four stars, and I would strongly recommend it.
Win-win-win situation!.
year- up to a certain age However, it is entertaining enough for adults as well, so you won't mind playing it with your children. Each game is played in a very short period of time. The box says 20 minutes, but when we play, someone usually wins (gets 5 queens) in under 10 minutes, and then we play until all of the queens are awake just for fun. The box says it's for children aged 8 and up, but I think it's more appropriate for children aged 4 and up!.
