Questions & Answers

Is this a more recent edition than the one published in 2000?

Yes, that is correct. It contains cards that are more recent. I also bought the midnight additions and threw them in there as well. We haven't played it yet, but we will, and I'm looking forward to playing it with our family.

Would a game like this appeal to a 15-year-old?

Yes, absolutely! During the holidays, we played this game with relatives of all ages, and it was a big hit. The youngest was around the age of eight or nine. I hope this has been of assistance.

Is there a battery pack included?

Batteries are not included in the package. Two AAA batteries are required.

Is it enjoyable if there are two of you?

At least three people are required: one to buzz, one to provide clues, and one to guess the correct answer. It's a game that, at best, requires two teams, but three people can definitely pull it off!

The buzzer is a step forward, but the card-holder is still missing
3/5

I'm relieved that the buzzer has returned - The version that came with the small rubber chewtoy was a rip-off. However, it is still missing a key component from the original Taboo game: the plastic holder that allows you to easily hold a number of cards and gives you space to flip them up one at a time. It may seem insignificant, but it's easy to waste time fumbling for the next card or dropping the card you just finished, and the holder from the old game solved these issues. br>br>And in case you're curious, no - Because the new cards are slightly larger than the old ones, you won't be able to use the old holder with them.

The game is a classic, but it could be better
3/5

We were big fans of the first Tabboo, but all of the 90s pop culture references in that one were hopelessly out of date (we had to explain who Monica Lewinsky was to our kids, lol). This version eliminates almost all people and proper nouns, but it does have a few flaws:
1. They reused a number of phrases from the original. It's not a big deal, but if you're paying for a new game, it'd be nice to get all new words and clues. br>2. This version does not come with the plastic car holder. This makes it more difficult to give clues, pass the cards around, and so on. "No problem," we reasoned, "we'll just use the original game's holder. " "However, for some reason, the manufacturer made the cards about 1/16 of an inch wider in this version, so they barely fit in the old card holder. It's inconvenient for something that could easily be fixed. This version, at the very least, includes a buzzer.

Exceptional recreation: The card holder is not included in this version
3/5

I really enjoy the game, but I had no idea it didn't come with a standard card holder. I'm not sure why it wouldn't; it doesn't appear to be prohibitively expensive; I'm still enjoying the game, but it does make the gameplay a little less organized.

There are fewer resources and new questions
3/5

Fans of the "old" taboo will enjoy this review. Yes, there's a buzzer on this one, which is apparently quite important. However, there was no card box, score pad, or timer. Furthermore, the new cards are not the same size as the old cards, so you can't use the old card box. The only saving grace is that the questions aren't from the 1970s.

It was a fun game, but I found it to be annoying
3/5

It was a fun game, but it irritated me that it didn't come with a card holder like the original. The cards also don't fit in the card holder from the original. I had hoped it would be a significant improvement over the original, but it is not, in my opinion.

Overall
3/5

Taking a Backseat to the Original The Taboo game has always been a favorite of ours, and we've played it many times over the years. We were looking forward to this new edition, but it turned out to be a letdown. The good news is that there's a new deck of cards with new topics. This was a pleasant surprise. The drawbacks: Because there is no card display holder in the new game, you must either leave it on the table or have the player hold it. which makes it more difficult; and 2) the timer gives you far less time than the original. With the new cards, we're using the old timer again. We attempted to use the old card hold, but it was too small. The company appears to have cut corners, which is evident. Too bad.

B was where I found the game
5/5

My wife and I were staying in a B&B when we discovered a Taboo game hidden in a closet. We said, "What the hell, let's play it. " Taboo game with a lot of alcohol = a lot of fun! There were ten of them. a few years ago We had to order this game after seeing it on Amazon. This one has been updated to make it more current. NOTE: The timer has been a source of contention for a number of reviewers. This one came with a timer, but using it detracts from the gameplay, so don't listen to people who say it's of poor quality.

This is an excellent game to play with a group
5/5

This is an excellent game to play with a group. Although it is sophisticated enough for adults and teenagers, even younger players were able to participate and have a good time. We played in three-person teams, with a variety of ages in each group. It was extremely amusing. Everyone wanted to play the game again when it was over. The goal is to describe a key word in a specific amount of time without using any of the other words on the card (the "Taboo" words)--the game includes a timer. There are a set of cards, and you must see how many of the key words your team can correctly guess in the time allotted.
