In general, the thickness of commercial slings is standardized. As long as you are not custom cutting your own material, it should be fine.
There needs to be an open end on the sling. It is not possible to open the ring on these mounts.
The width and the thickness are 25 inches and 1/2 inch respectively. There was plenty of room for many paracord wraps in the braided sling I made to use with them.

What is the point of replacing the leather knobs with plastic ones. In fact, I have used several sets of these over the years they almost always work fine, however, I don't understand why the plastic knobs have been chosen. It is made of blued metal like they have always been and is fine in quality and thickness. The latch that holds the ring to the eyes is similarly constructed and is of excellent quality as well.
