Questions & Answers

What is the distinction between the two? in the range 1A2- BR and S- BRM ?

The S- BRM has notched legs (M) and rotates 45 degrees side to side (S) to allow you to align your horizontal scope crosshair horizontally. The 1A2- BR has no notched legs and does not rotate side to side. It has a solid foundation, which is indicated by the number 1A2. Both models fold in half so that they are parallel to the barrel. The mount to QD swivel stud is the same on both. Is there a swivel on this? Is the x and y axis hinged (if there is one)?

It does not, in fact. It's fine, but there's no swivel on it. Another model by Harris does the same thing, though it is a little more expensive. I use this on a bench gun for accuracy and it works great, but if I were hunting, I'd get one that swiveled.

What is the connection between this and the Remington 700?

It connects to the sling swivel and then to the bipod via the sling swivel. Alternatively, if you already have a rail, you'll need a picatinny rail adapter.

Is this compatible with a Mauser K98?

So long as a sling stud is present. A K98 is a brand new to me.

(5/5) It's a good idea! I, like others who have reviewed this bipod before me, looked at a few cheap bipods beforehand in the hopes of saving money

You won't be dissatisfied with the results. The Harris bipod I'm using now is my tenth. I've seen a lot of other brands, but none of them compare to the Harris. To put meat on the table, some of us in Maine like to shoot long distances. The previous four years have been I've been attempting to keep my distance under 650 yards for the past five years. I despise seeing an animal go through hardship. I scavenge in my 1960 relic car. Engineered 10' camper (house trailor axel to get it off the ground and through deep snow and old choppins), new heater, two 40lb propane tanks, and four golf cart batteries But most importantly, I constructed a bench beneath a window from which I shoot. I tell everyone that it's always 70 degrees where I hunt, and I've been doing it since 1988. ) I've found the Harris bipod to be an excellent bench shooting foundation. The 1A2 bench rest 6- is, in my opinion, the best bench rest. The 9 model is without a doubt the best of their rests. Because of the flimsy and unpredictable platform, I dislike the notched or swivel rests. After seeing the difference in my targets at the range and on the power lines shooting from 200 to 1200 yards, I could never be confident using them (compared to the solid base, unnotched, and no swivel). I no longer carry my M24(300 win mag) (kills on both ends) that I used to shoot out to 1200 yards. My 7mm Rem Mag MarkV accumark is now my only weapon of choice. This rifle was custom built at Krieger (which they no longer do except for Rem 700 actions) and features an incredible recoil surpressor. This weapon is so close to my nose that I could shoot it with it. My grandkids, ranging in age from eight to twelve, all shoot this gun and enjoy it as much as I do. If you enjoy shooting and are proud of your abilities, this is the place for you. The Harris 1A2 solid base 6-pack is a good choice. When shooting from a bench, a 9 bipod is one of the best purchases you can make. I've got them on everything from a 22-caliber pistol to a 300-caliber rifle.

Harris is the way to go
4/5

Everyone aspires to be like them. I looked for bipods for my rifles for a while and considered going with the less expensive models available at most retailers, all of which stated "Harris style bipod" right on the packaging. However, after speaking with a couple of local gunsmiths, I changed my mind. I figured that if all of the other knockoffs claim to be "Harris style," it must be a testament to the Harris brand, so I splurged and bought the Harris Engineering bipod for a few extra bucks. I'm not dissatisfied with my choice in the least. When I'm shooting, whether on the range or in the field, it provides a nice stable platform that doesn't change height or angle. The only criticism I have is that when shooting, the lug that secures the bipod unit to the rifle becomes loose. I've been told that this is a problem with all bipods due to the heavy vibrations that occur when shooting, so I won't hold it against them, and if it's the only complaint I have, I'm happy with my purchase. Overall, this is a fantastic bipod for shooting stability.

Bipod is fantastic
5/5

With so many Bipods to choose from, it's hard to go wrong. Harris has long been regarded as one of the best companies in the industry. One of the reasons for this is because of this. The bipod is extremely well-made, and the height adjustment is exactly what I was looking for. The springs are extremely strong, and it takes a bit of effort to pull the legs down, but that is exactly how it is supposed to be. The quick closing buttons on both legs, which automatically lower the height to the original 6 inches, make this bipod even better. Despite the fact that most buyers will not require the attachment (which costs only $4 on Amazon), it is an excellent addition to your arsenal. and the stability of this bipod is excellent for the price. Yes, there are other harris bipods that are "more expensive", however, this is a great bipod that fits the% The bipod is 9 inches long.

The mounting system is inadequate
3/5

I just got my Harris bipod, and the retention screw isn't tight enough to pull the quick lock assembly down far enough to secure the bipod against the stock. Given that it does not provide a stable platform and that I will have to search for an adapter that will work with it, I will most likely return it and purchase another brand for a third of the price that will easily attach to a picatinny rail.
