Despite the fact that the Caldwell XLA bipods are made in China and are essentially Harris clones, they clearly meet a higher quality control standard than the no-name knockoffs found here and elsewhere. For years, I've used other Caldwell shooting products with great success. I've had good luck with the Lead Sled and Rock rest, as well as Caldwell replacement bags. br>So, when I needed a bipod that would mount onto a section of Pic rail on my AR for casual shooting, I didn't want to pay Harris money. I also didn't want to risk it with a mystery. bipod made in China That's a route I've taken before, and it's never worked out well. br>The Caldwell XLA has fairly strong springs and decent-looking hardware, making it a good bench rest. I'd prefer some tilt and swivel adjustment if I were going to use the bipod in the field, but it's a good, solid base for shooting at the range. br>A word of advice: if you're only going to use this bipod on one rifle, make sure the Pic rail clamp is perfectly adjusted to your rail and use thread locker to keep the threaded collar from moving after you detach the bipod from your rifle. Otherwise, when the bipod is detached, it will move, and you will have to fiddle with it every time you want to mount it. That, in my opinion, defeats the purpose of a fast-food restaurant. Remove the mount. At the range, you will save a significant amount of time.
56 rifle. The legs are folded up and down. The legs are held firmly in place by springs. br> With the turn of a screw, the height can be adjusted and locked in place. br>The bipod mounts to your pic rail and features a quick disconnect lever that secures the bipod in place without requiring a lot of force to flip it. It doesn't swivel or rotate, and neither does it swivel or rotate. br>br>Perfect for pinking from a bench on the range.
For my AR15, I purchased this bipod. It was time for me to zero my rifle. Because it wasn't bolted to the table, I didn't want to rent a shooting rest at the shooting range. It's difficult to zero a rifle because it's so shaky. Bipods are only useful on the shooting range and should not be used for any other activity. If you don't want to spend a lot of money on overpriced, poorly made shooting rests, this Caldwell bipod is a great option.
Not on the same level as a Harris, for example. However, it is perfectly functional. When the situation calls for it, I switch between two rifles. The QD comes in handy because it doesn't live on either of these rifles. I'm happy with my purchase, but if you really want the best dang bi pod on the market, spend a little more and get one of the higher-end models. For the rest of us, this device is adequate. IE. Mine is used for shooting in squalid environments such as quarries and in the hills. That's fantastic. My tack driving from a bench rest. 22 received a Harris, which is a far superior bipod.
I use the bipod to support my GAMO Urban PCP when I lay it on my garage work bench, so the quick detach is an excellent feature. And if I see a tree rat in the backyard, I just detach the bipod and get to work. When I'm finished, I quickly reattach the gun and set it aside for the next one.
The bipod itself is sturdy, well-made, stable, simple to set up, and secure to the pic rail. The only thing that prevents me from giving it five stars is the lack of a sling attachment point - whatever the case - The bipod pic rail base can be placed under or next to it. There was no tab, ring, cup, swivel, or anything else. You'll have to find another location to attach your sling because this isn't going to work. That said, everything else about it is fantastic, especially for the price; I give it four stars and would recommend it if you already have a sling attachment in place.
This is what I put on my M's picatinny rail. It's called P Sport 2 and it's fantastic! The ease of assembly and removal and adjustment of the legs were the selling points for me.
I bought one a week ago and was blown away by how well made it is, so I went ahead and bought another. It's solid and doesn't have a cheap feel to it. It won't move and isn't wobbly once it's mounted on your rifle's picatinny rail. Caldwell did an excellent job with this product, which I highly recommend. A big thumbs up!.
