It has a medium wide width to it. They sell a wider one, but the one that came with it worked fine on my varmint rifle, which has a fairly wide forend, with some filler media adjustment.
I'm not sure, but the Caldwell Precision Turret might be worth looking into. Both are available to me, and I prefer the latter. The cost is approximately $80-$100. $90.
Yes, the upper rest is raised and lowered by the center wheel, which can be locked in place using the extended L-shaped rod.
It's unclear whether the height can support a 30-round clip. The device will, however, adjust to a maximum of 8 1/4" in length. If that's not enough, both the device and the sandbag can be shimmed to the desired height. 30 round magazines are cumbersome to handle and can obstruct shooting positions. I recommend that you use a mag with a lower capacity. To avoid mag failures, I use 20 round clips that are initially loaded to a maximum of 18 rounds.

I like the rest of it, but the bag is terrible! This is a photo taken after 50 rounds from a. 308 The front bag is beginning to fall apart, and the back bag is showing signs of wear. Caldwell makes a great base, but I'm not sure why they top it off with such a low-quality bag, especially given the number of complaints they continue to receive. So I throw an old sock or two over both or drape a heavy cloth over it to slow down the wear, but I'm sure I'll be looking for replacements soon. Also, take a look at the spacers in the back bag to help level it out. The blocks were attached to the bag with Velcro. The V shape of the back bag has grown on me, and I'll be replacing it with something else. The rifle stocks "sink" into the V after each shot, requiring constant fiddling with the bag to return to target. It's extremely aggravating. The front base is made up of two 1x12 pieces with lead ingot cavities routed out between them. Diamond base made of rubber It's big and strong. Would I buy it again or recommend it? Not until Caldwell resolves the issue, which appears to be affecting a number of their other products. It appears that they should correct the situation and replace the employees. Oh well.
The bean bag busted at the seam where it was sewn the first time I used it, which was a good design but very poor quality. If you want something that will last, don't buy this junk. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> I emailed Cauldwell customer service and was met with useless people, as everyone else has said. No reply.
1. It's not difficult to put together.
2. For the time being, the Caldwell rifle rest and butt pad are adequate; however, their long-term viability is unknown.
3. If you have a wide stock, the rifle pad will not fit; however, if you have a normal slim stock, it will fit.
4. It appears to be smaller and less robust than I anticipated.
5. Is this something I would recommend? I expected the pads to be larger and more durable for the price, but if the price is within your budget, go for it. If you're looking for a more durable shooting rig, look elsewhere.
First and foremost, let me state that this is a $66 gun rest, so why would you expect it to perform as well as a $250 gun rest? Well, this gun rest is ideal for my shooting style. I've been shooting for 45 years and have used everything from shirts to pillows to bags of rice, beans, and even other people as rests, so when I say this is better than all of that, I mean it. It's well-made and, as far as I can tell, does exactly what it claims to do. buy it. Stop whining and go shoot.
I've seen others shoot with rifle rests at my local range for years, while I was shooting with a bipod or bags, which caused the bag or rifle to move a lot between shots. On the other hand, this is incredibly stable and simple to adjust - Also, it's a dream to photograph with. How could I possibly go back to shooting from a bench with a bipod?.
I'm pleased with it overall. It's simple to set up, pack up, and transport from the vehicle to the range, and it's especially useful for fine point elevation adjustments before firing a shot. The only criticism I have is that the plastic key that goes inside the threading is flimsy and broke almost immediately after I assembled it. The rest comes with a replacement piece, but I haven't bothered to replace it yet because it has no bearing on the operation.
After only 15 shots, the front rest bag snapped at the seam. There are small black pellets all over the place. When the manufacturer was contacted, a replacement bag was sent out right away. Other than that, it's a good product; I like the adjustability, and it's very stable. The rest bag, however, is of poor quality. so (apart from that, 5 stars) Expect the new bag to wear out quickly (thin vinyl/fabric won't hold up to recoil with checkered stock). Customer service, as always, was excellent.
Over the years, I've used a variety of sights to sight in rifles, ranging from heavy, expensive sleds to homemade items. I've found that sleds are excellent for accuracy but difficult to transport to and from the range. It also detracts from the enjoyment of shooting for me. Don't get me wrong: in a precision rifle, where 1/1000th of an inch can mean the difference between winning and losing a match, every millimeter counts. However, as a typical range shooter or hunter, I like to get a feel for the rifle in my hand and see if I enjoy the recoil and shooting. The rest also allows you to better determine scope position and control the rife; however, the forward rest top does not attach to the base, which is something I really dislike about it. When switching rifles or moving positions, it would constantly fall off.
