Questions & Answers

How much of this product is in the bag?

When I had them they were filled with ground corncob, they started to rot in the tower stands after getting wet *br>They mildewed & crumbled. As Brick had to throw them away, I have a few guns with sand in them that are a few years old and still working well. *br>Sand is my choice for a shooting bag.

Can you tell me what the bag's fill is?

In short, yes. You can keep it in your rifle or hand when using a pistol or revolver. It's nice and heavy, and it will mold to your hand. In order to save on shipping, I assume you can purchase them without any filling. When I am at the range, I add 6 x 1 blocks of wood to make it higher if need be. It was about 12" long when I cut it. Caldwell makes a great product, so make sure to look at all their products before you make your choice. A nice range sled is available as well. You might also want to check out what other shooters are using at the range. I wish you the best of luck I am glad to hear you shot well.

Can you tell me the height of the bag when a rifle is inside?

Using the picture as a guide The dimensions are The dimensions of this stand are 11 1/2" long by 8 1/2" wide by 9". Describe the depth of the notch in these terms The size of about The thickness of your forestock should be added to the distance from the bench to the bottom of the notch. Most likely, it will not fall all the way down to the bottom of the notch because of the rifle's settings. Okay, so A point on the bench should be 6 3/4 " from the forestock to the bore of the rifle. It's also really great to use for shooting my pistols to improve my accuracy (testes ammo or a new pistol)! Just put your wrist and forearm in the notch and you're good to go. When you shoot a revolver, make sure the front of the cylinder lies beyond the gun rest. If it does not, the cylinder gap flash could cause a hole. Alternatively, I have 6 pieces of lumber cut to size that I can use to raise the height of the gun rest. Each piece is 2 x 6 x 16 inches Also, they can raise you up so that you can sit on them. The task has been accomplished. You can also. If all else fails, go to an Asian market and buy a 25# cloth bag of rice. They work pretty darn well. That was a good shot, LOL. SAFTEY FIRST! - Have fun, but be aware of your surroundings

Do you fill the "bag" from the bottom? If so, how does it close? Does the cap come with a sewn cap or does it need to be sewn on?

By folding the bag and tucking it under a strip of nylon webbing, the bag is closed. There is also velcro to hold it in place. Since I take it on hunts in addition to getting a lot of rough treatment, it has never been a problem for me to open it.

Ensure you do not get wet! The system works great, and I realize it would seem like common sense, but I've found that sometimes annoying things The rain poured when I forgot to bring my umbrella
3/5

In the past, this type of thing has happened to me, but what happened to this one took me by surprise. This caused the bag to expand to the point where it could no longer accommodate the contents. There seems to be no way to get the contents out, even after trying everything to dry it out including a dehumidifier and even turning on the oven. Whenever the material comes into contact with moisture, it will not expel it. As usual, most of us have used rice, and this works too, but it molds if wet. Sawdust might also work well since it holds onto water. If I do it again I think I'll get a bag that is empty, then fill it with something that can tolerate getting wet While none of us plan to get it wet or leave it out, we all do it sometimes. I just wanted to share an update with you. After about an hour of digging out the contents, I was satisfied. They made the clods using ground corn husks, which swell once wet and do not allow moisture to escape. BB's are being filled with Airsoft BB's I purchased. You will need to purchase them separately, but they are plastic and can be used wet, and they will never mold or rot. If you don't tear open your bag and dump them all over, you won't need to buy them again so long as you don't tear open the bag and dump them. You need to replace your bag when it eventually gets worn out. Just transfer your BBs to the The following is an update from 2/15/17 To fill it, I used 6 20,000 ct Airsoft BBs. That bag and the bag alone were about $65 each. It will not matter what I do, I can drop this bag in the pond or leave it out in the rain, it will not matter. Just let the bag dry in the sun and it will be fine. Light (better than sand, even if it doesn't keep its shape) and inexpensive, the BB's are great. I had a bag that lasted about 10 years when I used it heavily. When I get my next bag, I'll just move the BBs. Investing in it seems to be a wise move. The only thing it takes is a little mistake, to drop it in water or leave it in the rain, and your bag is bad.

A great bag rest from Caldwell
5/5

Lighter than my old browning bag but with a much better shape for holding a slim hunting rifle than my big Browning bag. It works well, as a matter of fact. Even if you already have a lot to haul to the range, lighter is nice. If you're trying to squeeze your group size even further, you might want to add a small bag under the buttstock for maximum stability. It was also mentioned that sand leaking from the roof. So far, I haven't encountered that problem, but switching to polyester beads to fill the cake would fix the problem and reduce the weight. A reviewer mentioned that a seam burst when the bag was dropped, so I am not Despite the strong fabric and stitching, this bag seems lighter than some of the more expensive ones. So far I haven't dropped it, but I have dropped it pretty forcefully while dealing with the portable bench, the shooter's bag and so on without any problems. There is an old saying that states that everyone's mileage will differ. was rated at 4 1/2 stars, I might be inclined to do so. Overall, however, it is something I'm happy to recommend for the cost. The lead sled rest is not the only one of its kind I own, but this one is a little larger and more convenient.

In my opinion, this is the best heavy rest, especially at this price point
5/5

It secures the rifle while cradling it securely, and it's long enough to support enough of the gun that you don't have to support the stock separately. The handle from the rifle should manage the weight and the handle well, and the tassel is reinforced in the places where the rifle will abrade it from recoil. Filler is heavy without being ridiculous, but there's enough give in the stuffing that it allows your rifle to "snuggle" into place. As with many current products, if you get one that had poor quality control, a seam not been sewn properly, or something else, you might have issues, but using Amazon Prime, you can exchange it because the ones that are properly made.

I am very pleased with this bag
5/5

This bag is fantastic. The results are exactly what we were looking for. It is excellent at what it does. This is what I filled it with 5 pounds. After sprinkling cat litter on it, it was finished off with a bag of cheap bulk white rice. Fresh cat litter worked well for me, but I suggest you experiment with it too. The rifle can be positioned easily in this bag due to its weight. There were a few negative reviews that I read. In their whining, there sounded more like an error on the part of the users. It is easy to fill (as are all my other bags from Caldwell), and it keeps its shape well once The fill tube does not leak if you close it properly (close velcro fill tube, then tuck under fill tube strap). It's that simple. I think it is very scary that someone can't figure out how this simple design works, yet has guns and goes to shooting ranges. There is no way I would let someone like that go near me on It is a product I would recommend to my students (firearms trainer), family, and friends to buy. My plan would be to buy a replacement if I lost it.

This door stop has a lopsided design
3/5

The bag would be a good door stop if it could be used in that manner. As a result, the two sides were placed asymmetrically, so when filled with documents, the upper and lower wings on the left side held approximately 60% of the documents, while the right side held about 40% (see picture Unfortunately, the focus on the image is not good). As a result, the bag did not sit evenly and the rifle kept sliding to one side. Also, the H-style handle did not stay in place. While the bag does not clamp or draw the rifle into the bag (as in an excellent competing and slightly more expensive bag that will remain nameless) which has a patented scissor or X-style mechanism, this bag does not are not designed to hold rifles. It is made in such a way that the rifle stays You won't lose any money if you don't waste it Make sure you buy once and cry once by buying quality.
