Questions & Answers
I've been using these for a long time. I just purchased four more, as well as a can of silicon spray to go with them. I usually reapply the silicone to the cloth at least twice a year.
I'm not aware of any negative effects on the brass finish that I'm aware of. The silicone is designed to wick away moisture from the surface of carbon steel, preventing oxidation and corrosion. On the other hand, I don't believe there would be much of a benefit with brass.
It will leave a light coating on the Firearm at first, but it will appear dry later.

I've been using "Outer's Gun" for a while now. Reel Cloths" has been around for about 50 years, dating back to when they were $1. 00 each, so you can imagine how long it's been!br>br>Anyway, I was able to find them here on Amazon at a lower price than most Sporting Goods stores, etc. , so I was concerned when I couldn't find them any longer. I have a lot of firearms and fishing reels that need to be looked after on a regular basis. br>br>To keep this review brief, I had reservations about Hoppe's Silicone Cloths, but only because they were so much less expensive than Outer's Silicone Cloths. Nonetheless, after reading several Customer Reviews on the Hoppe's product, I felt more comfortable trying a new brand, despite the fact that Hoppe's is a well-known brand in the Sports field. br>br>And now for the 'kicker;' These are actually better than the cloths I was using previously, and they're a lot less expensive than the old standby Outer's cloths. When 12 to 16 cloths are used to cover an area, Store all of your items, then wrap them in a single cloth when storing them in their cases until you are ready to use them again. This ensures that the item is clean and lubricated when you open the case, which is always preferable to cleaning and storing them at the last minute. br>br>I'm pleased, Amazon is likely pleased, and Hoppe's has gained a new customer. Overall, this is a fantastic product that I would recommend to any hunter or angler. They save time, preserve the finish, and save money in the long run, just like the Outer's did. Thank you for taking the time to read my review! br>br>

Many people believe there is something wrong with the Hoppe'sbr>Cloth because it leaves a heavy film on the metal after using it. It makes no difference whether the film is Heavy or Light Silicone Film. The thicker the silicone film, in fact, the better. If you live near a body of water, there are a few things you should keep in mind. Many metals will rust very quickly if you don't have a good film of silicone orbr>grease on them, especially if they are exposed to salt water. Moisture will be kept out by the silicone or grease protectant. br> As a result, the thicker the film, the longer the metal is protected. The more moisture a metal can withstand while remaining protected, the better. The majority of people will stuff a gun or a knife into a cotton sock. That's the Worstbr>Thing You Could Use to Store Them for Any Period Of Time; for some reason, abr>Cotton Sock will cause a Metal to Rust Muchbr>Faster Than Anything Else. I keep my guns in a safe place. Put Knives in Gun or Knifebr>Rugs made of Gore Tex Material with Siliconebr>or Rig Grease, and they will be protected for many yearsbr>without worry. Silicone fills the pores in the metal and seals them. The Gore Tex fabric keeps moisture out. br> br>br>This order was delivered three days after I placed it. This is a seller I will buy from again. br> Good Job.
I received a small beginner's gun cleaning kit with a miniature version of this cloth when I first became a firearm owner. It became worn out after a lot of use, so I bought this full-size version. one of a certain size It's fantastic! br>br> When you take the cloth out of the package, it appears to be nearly dry to the touch, but it leaves a glossy, thick layer of silicone lubricant on your gun. It removes fingerprints and grease while restoring the health and freshness of a "dry" gun. It's fantastic for keeping metal and wood in good condition. I like to use it after I've taken my firearms out in the rain to keep them looking good for years. If you own a firearm, you should have one of these in your kit. br>br>At $4, you really shouldn't pass it up. Just try to resist the urge to use it before using proper cleaning patches and rags - You'll be disappointed when your nice cloth absorbs more gunpowder residue than it should.
When they include silicone, these are fantastic. Unfortunately, the ones I got from Amazon were either old stock or defective, as no protective coating or trace of silicone was left behind when wiped across a mirror. It's now a pricey rag as a result of this.
One of these was carefully folded and stored in an empty leather polish tin with a screw-on lid by my father. It was older than my father, so it would have been around 50 years old when he died. When we cleaned firearms after shooting, we made sure to wipe down all metal surfaces with the silicone cloth as part of the reassembly process. He would always inspect my work, and any trace of a finger print that could damage the bluing had to be completely removed. He had a number of guns that he hadn't used in a long time and had stored them in adequate but not ideal conditions. None of the firearms I took out of storage showed any signs of rust or corrosion, which speaks volumes about the product's quality. I now own four of these, ostensibly as a safety net in case Hoppes discontinues or lowers the quality of this model. I hate to be cliche, but at ten times the price, it's a steal.
It's a fantastic way to end a cleaning session. It appears to be impregnated with a large amount of silicone, perhaps even a little too much, but that will obviously wear off over time. br>I will definitely buy again if I ever need a second one. This one won't need to be replaced anytime soon, in my opinion.
Normally, they exaggerate the dimensions, but this was exactly what the bag stated. br>I was hired to wrap the various slides/barrels for a handgun, so I cut the appropriate sizes. I used far fewer wipes than I anticipated, so I now have extras to clean other guns. br>It's a fantastic deal.
