Since I only owned this model, I cannot answer the question about older models that are less expensive. Despite the price difference, the new one performs just as well as the one I replaced
Due to its Velcro closure, it is not as quiet as my Coletac, but it has more padding, so it may be worth it depending on the terrain. Although, I think the material itself is very similar to what's on the net without the price tag. You could always cut off the Velcro and wrap it up with some paracord.

This mat is very good. I used it for a Project Appleseed shoot and it worked Over a dirty, dusty shooting range, we spent two days kneeling, standing and laying on the ground. Got through it all without a hitch. My favorite thing about this one is that it rolls up beautifully, which I prefer over those I'm sure it will provide years of service. The materials used for the construction are excellent. A shooting class with Project Appleseed is also very highly recommended.
A sexy ass is shot down by an American Sniper wearing an 11!.
This mat is great for shooting. As well as being thick, it is very heavy.
In this short review, I have only tried to cover a limited range of topics. To date, the item has stood up well to hard use, it is not ripped or torn and it is watertight. Suitable for uneven or gravelly ground, the padding is good enough. There are several mat sections that provide grip, but they get extremely hot in the sun, so they might not be necessary. As you can see from the picture, the mat is a bit smaller than you may expect (it will not fully accommodate your body), but as long as your rifle is off the front of the mat, only your feet will dangle Despite being lightweight, the mat takes up a lot of room. This product's ties used to secure the bag and the included strap are probably its least desirable feature. Better closure snaps with better straps and stitching are preferred with an expectation that users will find their own way to attach the mat to the.
It is of great quality. A great mat that not only looks great but also feels great and is at a super price large enough for me and my rifle even my dog next to me very strong material I highly recommend it to other people.
My fellow Appleseed participants gave me a shooting mat that I really liked (and that I now have myself) at the It's a great idea because you can roll it up and use it as an interim cushion for your seat, something which is not possible with the fold-up. With the fold-down version (well, you can, but you're closer to the ground You can also find up mats). When not in use, the mat folds to the length with the ground side facing out, so dirt and grime is kept out. It is rolled up and secured with long velcro loops. Complete with a carry handle and removable shoulder strap (which can also be used to stop a rifle bipod), the backpack is convenient for traveling. You have friction patches throughout the mat so that you can grip it better while in various shooting positions, and the underside is sturdy enough to not get punctured by spent casings. I highly recommend taking one of these with you if you shoot outdoors on public or private.
As a matter of fact, I ordered this mat because I need something to lay on when I take In my free time, I often lay on the ground taking pictures of flowers, insects, and water droplets. For a long time, I used a beat up old yoga mat, but it was falling apart and was too bulky to carry It is difficult to find mats designed specifically for photography, and I looked online but there was My search expanded to include this mat from NcSTAR, so I ended up looking at it. My favorite part is how lightweight and comfortable it is to walk around with as I walk through the woods, yet how thick and sturdy it is to allow me to lie comfortably on a variety of surfaces for extended periods of time. *One highlight is how easy it is to unroll and roll. The bag is held closed by two straps. It takes me under five seconds to launch it open from the ground once the fasteners are undone. The process of rolling it up is almost as simple. Getting rid of that old yoga mat that was mostly ruined makes me so happy. You might find this mat to be your new best friend if you spend a lot of time lying on the ground while holding your camera.
I was expecting it to be a bit thinner. The ones I purchased were considerably thicker than those I had previously. I bought two of these for outfitting a JROTC marksmanship team. Although they have the advantage of being easy to store, and shooters love This is probably the best option for shooting on the range than on the floor inside, but they can also be used outside.
