Can anyone tell me if they've used this S30v steel for sharpening before?

You can sharpen anything that is softer than ceramic with this As far as I know S30v steel has no chemical composition. Regardless of its Rockwell hardness, I am not sure how you can sharpen the blade you have. The steel in this will be sharpened to the best of my knowledge.

What grit would you consider this rod to be? The darker the color, the more likely it is. A medium-grit would be perfect for me. I'm good with that. Thanks for your help. Who is that?

It is a ceramic rod of medium grit. "The Lansky 8" Ceramic Sharp Stick comes with a wood grip handle," is the text from Lansky's site. Keeping your knives sharp is simple with this medium grit ceramic rod. Just a few strokes every few times you use them will do.

The beauty of a ceramic sharpening stick is the fact that it is harder than steel. Are you going to use a metal container?

That is if you mean a steel rod coated with diamond grit, and I don't know whether there is any advantage nor disadvantage except for perhaps longer life. There is a coating on the rod. A ceramic tile is made from start to finish. Despite the fact that I have only owned one diamond rod for a year, I have yet to wear it out. I find the lasky ceramic to be very, very good indeed.

The best thing you can do with it is get it, use it and love As I waltzed into my aunt's house dripping with sweat, I found something quite worrisome When I warily stepped inside, I came upon that sight as they were going to serve thanksgiving in 2019 This is what her kitchen knives look like
5/5

It was dull for all of them! Unfortunately, this is not acceptable. After pulling some zippers on my backpack, I quickly pulled out my mobile sharpening kit consisting of a Green Elephant ceramic rod, a Superstick ceramic rod from Arkansas Sharpeners, a Lansky Sharp Stick, and a Smith's As I prepared for work, I strode throughout the evening through over 63 knives, swiping here and there to shape them up! There are sixty three, yes sixty three, ranging from cleavers to chef knives to bread knives to paring knives to machetes! My years of experience with my kit, learning to become a master of my craft, was superior to all of them. As a result of cutting all the knives, they were all sharp by the end of the night, whereas before they couldn't really cut anything. When I finished fixing up those knives, I returned them to their place of rest in a dark and quiet drawer, where they will remain until the next time. My aunt was delighted to hear what I had done, and she thanked me profusely. In the absence of this Lansky Sharp Stick that I used as my intermediate grit after my diamond rod and before my finer ceramic rods whose to know the injuries that knives have caused and might have caused if it weren't for the Lansky Sharp Stick I used. Take it for a test drive, use it in your daily life, and enjoy.

This is an amazing bargain for the price it is offered at
5/5

The following are the most recent updates This year This is Steal at his best. Make sure you clean the rod at least once a year. You only need to rinse it off in warm soapy water, dry it off, and then use it As a newcomer to knives and sharpening said objects, I have no idea where to start. My experience in my short time in the knife community has been that there are knife snobs, sharpening stone snobs, and think it is useless to buy a stone for $500 that won't completely destroy your KNIFE unless you spend big(ger) money! Nah, I'm not. I recommend that you purchase one of these. The moment I opened the packaging, I dropped it (the cap does not come off easily and it jerked out of my hand and rolled onto the cement floor in my garage with no injury. I would not do it again since I made it useless by allowing it to fall to the ground. I've wiped this down to sharpen some of my cheap kitchen knives, as well as some of my better kitchen knives (they're all under $50). As a result, they are now well-defined. Probably $5 is the lowest price I can find for a beater knife. Thanks to this tool, I now have the ability to cut tomatoes! This ceramic rod lets you sharpen knives quickly and easily. Learn how to use it and you'll always have sharp knives. You should not be a sushi chef making the big bucks if you are not one. Buy cheap designer products rather than overly expensive ones. I am very satisfied with this!.

You should consider putting this in your kitchen since it is not cheap
4/5

For the average knife, it does the job well enough but it's a bit coarse. However, it does give out a decent edge if the knife is not overused or in need of an overhaul You can grind your edge to restore its angle. The rod sharpener is not razor-sharp, so you might not expect razor sharpeness. Like any rod sharpener (I have six), it takes practice to get the right angle, stroke, Work on a junk knife before you go on to work with a high end knife because the stick is coarse enough that just banging around without really knowing how to handle it effectively can cause damage that will require it to be re-ground. As a foundation. You can also adjust your practice to take some of the harshness from the Rod, making it softer and.

It was a great price and it met my needs perfectly
5/5

It is true that I own many more ceramic sharpening rods than this one, but most of them are far more expensive. It was in the console of my truck and it was small enough to fit in there, so I added it to my cart out of curiosity. In the end I decided to actually use the tool to get a better understanding of what it could do and found out that it was much better than I thought it would be. The animal ended up in my taxidermy shop (Taxidermy). As I continued "testing it out", I realized that it put the edge on my skinning and fleshing knives the way I prefer it (I prefer a slightly toothy edge on these This is the one that gets more use than all the others combined. Since buying it I've bought three more and a fourth is in my Amazon cart. My only wish is that they would make a thicker version of it for my longer kitchen knives It's such a great price that you really can't beat it! Get one and try it out today.

It is easy to be deceived by medium grit
4/5

I suppose medium grit is a relative term, but I am not sure who would describe this as medium. It is similar to my kitchen steel, so I expected it to be like that as well. I don't notice grit on this ceramic at all, I'd say it's very fine, or even superfine. It has no discernible abrasion.

I thought I would need this razor and a lansky puck to do a lot of work, the puck to make things edges and this to make things As I understand it, it means However, if you don't want to use this for an hour or more, something in between is needed. So far, I have owned a square whetstone and a pull-through sharpener, but neither of those are really my thing. But since I like to use kitchen steels, I thought this would be perfect for me. It effectively sharpens like a kitchen steel, but it doesn't harm my teeth like a kitchen steel does. Although it does sharpen, I can see tiny metal dust shavings after using it for a while, but it is more for taking things from mostly razor sharp to extremely If you want to cut like a razor but not quite as fine as this, then it can be used, but you will be sitting there for a while. However, you wouldn't want to go from the finer side of this to razor sharp with it. However, I find it to be a great value for the price, so I rate it as a 4 star product.

This is a great honing rod
5/5

I Honing rod of excellent quality at a great price. This tool is easy to use quickly to hone your kitchen knives before, after or both times before using them. As compared with the pull through sharpener that came with my knife block, this fits perfectly in the knife block and works much better. Keep the correct angles when honing and you can keep a great edge on your kitchen knives.

Learn how to use it and you will keep great edges. Please be aware that this is NOT a sharpener, but a honing machine. The edge won't be brought back to life if it is extremely dull or damaged. A WORD OF WARNING BE It is ceramic and unsupported, so if you drop it, it will shatter.
