Questions & Answers

Some of the fixed blades I have are 8 mm on the spine, will it work well with them? I have a large knife collection some of the products are for cold steel blades. Is that okay?

You may want to contact KME to verify that the jaws on the blade holder open to their maximum extent even though I have not measured it.

What if I have a 3/16th thick blade? How will the sharpener handle it?

I appreciate you checking up on it. If I had to clamp anything over 1/4 inch thick, it would probably do so without a problem. I have never clamped anything over that thickness but it would most likely be fine. Feel free to ask me any other questions, I'd be happy to help

Can I buy the base later if the included case does not have enough room for it?

Between the inner plastic shell and foam on the top side, I put the base. It fits, but it is a bit tight. My jewelry tool has been upgraded with accessories, such as a stone thickness compensation device, extra stones, small blade jaws, and glass plates. My new bigger box now contains the contents of the old one. It will be a great accessory for this box at first, and it is very valuable.

This would be useful for sharpening chisels made from wood?

I appreciate your checking in with me. There is no adapter included for sharpening chisels with this system since it is mainly designed to sharpen knives. Despite the fact that it isn't impossible, it would be a difficult task if you didn't have something that would allow you to operate the sharpener more easily or make the angles of the chisel more consistent within its angle range. Feel free to contact us if you have any other questions we would be happy to help

I am so glad
5/5

Reviewing this book is taking a lot longer than I thought it would. *****This can sharpen a knife up to an amazing level of precision. This is amazing. Our entire set of Global kitchen knives has been sharpened with it, including utility knives, pocket knives, and a set of pocket knives as well. I will explain the trick with the lower angle (i. e. By flipping the fulcrum, you can achieve any desired outcome. You can see photos of the event on the right. The handle should now be mounted on a flat surface (I used a vise gently for this) and the angle adjusted with You should be able to achieve perfect edges after following the instructions.

How can you sharpen your knives easily? A variety of knives sharpeners that are similar were researched
4/5

The blade is clamped between two aluminum jaws, which is what attracted me to this one most. It is one of the features that other sharpeners lack. It's an absolute no-no to clamp the blade if you do not have the strength to do so. In my opinion, the clamp feature is vital. The honing stones it comes with are adequate to get a mirror-like finish on the edges. It is very pleasing to be able to achieve such sharpness To gain an edge, one has to adjust the blade angle in such a way as not to take too much material off the blade. From a 2 to a 4 I was able to sharpen anything. A folding knife blade of 5" is a perfect match for a kitchen knife of 10". * The reason I gave it 4 stars is that the guide rod has to be removed from the handle every time in order to fit it in It would fit into the case diagonally if it were only 1/2" shorter. To fit all the rods inside the case, either I cut the rods or drill a small hole in the case. However, I am very pleased with everything else. I just want to say one last thing * = > Sharpening quickly is not the purpose of this! Taking 30 minutes to 1 hour is necessary This can take 45 minutes or more depending on how well the blade is maintained. Therefore, if you want something very quick, this is not the perfect sharpener for you. It is actually relaxing and fun to use, and I don't mind the time.

There are a number of sharpening systems I've tried, but this one is by far my favorite without spending $400+ on a These stones are top notch and work well with the clamp
5/5

Additionally I own a non clamp system that I find to be inferior to this. The stones cut fast, and the angle is accurate. Its ease of use is one of its strengths. With a price range like this, I cannot ask for anything more than that. It is a good system and KME customer support is the best if you should have a.

The price is too high
3/5

It seems like it might have been a better value if it had cost half as much. The 4 small diamonds are clearly the biggest value, but the guide system feels handmade. It is mediocre at best (I need to add a layer of masking tape to hold each knife tight enough) and other parts (angle adjustment, guide rod, knob that keeps stones in place) require additional tools to tighten (pliers or screwdriver). Having said that, it works - But a Lansky does the same thing for 25% less. It appears to be more engineering than the Lansky for two bills.

The angles are great, I like The knife can be sharpened in this way very effectively! Freehand sharpening has been giving me mixed results until recently, when I managed to destroy one of my better knives and attempted to think about As someone who has seen the damage that can be done by electric grinders, I wanted to stay away from them

It only took me hours to watch YouTube videos and access online information before I discovered The razor sharp edge that I created on an Opinel was thrown in minutes after the box was opened. As a result of the fixed angle bearing, I was convinced this was the best choice. Then it's on to more knives that need to be repaired. KME, thanks for the kind words!.

I am a freelance knifemaker, so I use these diamond stones a lot
5/5

They make fast cuts. As a result of my belt grinder, I set the edges of my knives and then worked on finishing them with water stones and strops. With this method I have been able to obtain a shaving sharp edge. This product was purchased for a more accurate edge angle and I used it today on a blade that I just finished that has 61 rockwell hardness. Using this system for the first time, I was surprised at how quickly I was able to achieve an edge that was razor sharp. Because I like my knives to have a highly polished edge, I plan to purchase some finer stones for it.

The system is fantastic! The sharpening system does a great job

an adjustment period, but that's expected for any system, and it can be handled through practice. Practice with knives you don't care about in a variety steels before sharpening the knives that become important to you, and you will not have any.
