140 extra-coarse, 300 coarse, 600 fine, and 1500 extra fine diamond hones from the Gold Series KME 1x4 diamond hones.
For zero angle deviation and a smooth sharpening motion, use a spherical bearing rod guide.
Angle adjustment is continuous from 17 to 30 degrees, with 1 degree increments marked.
The included hard carry case makes it very portable.

Questions & Answers

Is it possible to sharpen straight razors with this?

Thank you for dropping by to see how things are going. Most straight razors require a lower angle than this system can provide. Straight razors can be cut with the Edge Pro and Wicked Edge systems, which are guided systems. They can be done on bench stones as well. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us - 505- 570- 2040

Is this the most recent model with the improved clamp?

No problem at all! Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to assist you. Keep an eye out.

Where can I purchase only diamond stones from the gold series? Is it true that I already own the KME kit?

The gold series diamond stones can be purchased from KME. They either sell directly to the customer or refer you to one of their vendors.

I recently purchased this system and am concerned about the base support, which allows the sharpener to wobble a few millimeters on the base. Is this something that happens frequently? Thanks. ?

Yes, and the sharpening will not be affected. If the wobble bothers you, you can hold it in one hand. I've sharpened mine at least a hundred times and am very pleased with the results.

A fantastic system that is well worth every penny and then some! If you're into knives, this is a must-have! This system is truly incredible, and it is capable of obtaining the desired egdes
5/5

I understand that spending this much money on a knife sharpening kit seems excessive, but in the grand scheme of things, it's nothing. This system is just as good as the wicked edge and even better than the edge pro apex in terms of quality and performance. But for a third of the price of the wicked edge and a hundred dollars less than the edge pro, this is a great deal. I also purchased a 50 grit beast stone and a kangaroo leather strop with 4 micron emulsion as extras. And, boy, does this system deliver everything you desire and more. With just that, you can get dangerously close to a mirror's edge. However, if you really want to take your edges to the next level, you'll have to do some serious work. Try out the lapping films; one of the best things about this system is how many accessories it comes with. How far you want to go is entirely up to you. However, this system might be a little much for 95 of people who just want to keep their blades sharp this system might be a little much for 95 of people who want to keep% This is for knife enthusiasts who want to take their skills to the next level. You don't need all of the extras to have a fantastic system, but it certainly doesn't hurt; this basic kit with the four stones will get you there. You also have the option of getting those insanely sharp mirror edges later on. I hope this information is useful, and I would strongly advise any serious knife enthusiast to do so. It's a must-have, and once you've mastered it, you can charge people to sharpen their knives for them, and eventually you'll be able to profit from the system.

This is a fantastic system for any knife aficionado! This is a must-have for serious knife collectors! If you're like me and don't care for traditional wet stones, this set is a must-have

br>br>The price is a little high, but for higher-end knives like the ones in my pictures, this is exactly what you need. br>br>Because all of the stones are diamonds, I only apply a very small amount of mineral oil to them before starting the process. It even comes with a small sharpie for marking the blade if you just want to keep the factory edge angle! br>br>If you're going to change the angle, I recommend getting the KME Beast Stone, which is 50 grit. You can do it with the provided stones, but it will take some time and you will be consuming the stones' life. br>br>While I wish the stones went beyond 1500, there are ways to improve your edge! br>br>I did buy a kangaroo strop for this, as well as some green compound to give my blades a little extra sharpness. br>br>One thing I can suggest is that you do your homework before attempting to use this! It may appear simple, but in the one photo I've included, you can see the lines I drew on the blade with a sharpie to find the blade's center and ensure an even edge all the way around. br>br>Sharpening takes as long as you want it to take with this system; I can go through the stones and have a blade sharpened in 30 minutes, or I can re-sharpen it in an hour. If you want that mirror polish, you'll need to profile an edge to get a lower angle, which can take an hour or more. br>br>My next purchase will have to be strops and emulsion compound, or diamond lapping films for a mirror edge, but for now, my knives are sharper than they were when I purchased them with this kit! Advantages: br>br> br>Excellent productbr>comes with casebr>easy to usebr>sturdybr>removes the guesswork from sharpening knivesbr>br>Cons: br>In the case where the stones and other items are stored, the foam is loose and wants to move around. br>could go higher than 1500 gritbr>the clamp is a bit wide for narrow blades (KME has a smaller lower profile one on their website)br>if the blade has a large curve it could move, essentially changing the sharpening angle, so make sure it is securebr>the price (which is really a one time purchase to take care of knives that cost as much if not more)br>br>all in all, this is not If you look after your knives, they will look after you.

It should have been a three-star rating
3/5

This system was pre-owned when I ordered it. The stones are all used up and losing their bite, and the base bar's threads have Loctite on them as well as obvious tool marks from previous assembly and disassembly. When I spoke with the owner of KME, he stated that you should only order from Skipper, which I assumed I had already done. They sell the KME sharpener as an authorized retailer. My system was sent to me from Urban something, and it was clearly a used system! br>br>As for the system, it works, but it can quickly cause serious damage to your knives! The stones included in this kit are of very low quality. At least in my case, I had to replace the stones with new ones from a different manufacturer. With the stones that come with it, you'll be able to make a 50 I spent an hour sharpening 1500 grits alone, not including re-sharpening. A D2 blade is profiled. It took me ten hours to re-create the scene. A Cold Steel SRK is profiled to a 40-degree angle. I was unable to sharpen the third knife I tried in S30V. br>br>Following the purchase of a new stone set, the system performs amazingly! It's a reliable performer with a low cost of ownership. friendly. However, you do get what you pay for; the system has a DIY feel to it that makes it appear cheap. My clamp is prone to breaking and sticking shut. The low-cost stones constantly lose volume, causing scratches on your blades. br>br>The owner of KME provides excellent customer service and stands behind his products, which he also manufactures in the United States. This is a low-cost system that works, but you must have the necessary motor skills and understanding to use it. It's not as forgiving as a Lansky, Sharpmaker, or DMT, for example. You must fully comprehend the mechanics and motions of knife sharpening; once you have, you will be amazed at the results that this system can produce. Large kitchen knives are not recommended. br>br>.
