Questions & Answers

To connect the Garmin G80 to a screen projector, where do you go?

You are not able to watch video on this device since it doesn't display it.

What do you do about this foot? Do you position it beside or behind the ball? If it is not inclined, is there a stand to keep it from sliding or will it lie flat? Thanks so much. ?

One foot away, the ball is at your address, you are at the ball, the monitor is in front of you. On the back of the monitor, there is an indentation very similar to that of a golf ball. You can lean the monitor on the indentation using a ball.

In order for the launch monitor to work properly, how much space must be between you and a hitting net?

This unit is placed at the same angle as the ball across from you. You can be as close to the ball as you like, as long as your club doesn't hit the net. In order for the unit to hit the ball, it has to be about 12 inches away. The best way to get a good selfie is to use a tripod so you can measure the height and aim easily.

How does this charger work? Does it use a micro USB (or similar stock connector), or does it use a proprietary one?

Data transfer is performed by a standard micro USB to standard USB cable that is compatible with Garmin's requirements for data transmission. There is a cable included with it.

The accuracy of the distance is good
5/5

My last set of golf clubs lasted for over twenty years, so it was time for a upgrade In addition to being 30 yards longer than my old 7 iron, I also found that the next one would be 30 yards longer. I do! (Yeah! Therefore, my known distances were all incorrect. Before I went to the course and embarrassed myself even worse than usual, I needed to 'distance' all my clubs. That's where the G80 came in. Choosing it was very convenient since it was a launch monitor and a course GPS at the same time. Its launch monitor gives only distance and speeds, but those are the only things I All the other information (direction, side spin) on the range is as clear to me as I can see on the range, but I am not As I just came back from the driving range after its first use, I wanted to share my experience. This is a pretty accurate description. As a result of lasering the pins on the driving range, I was able to compare the position of my ball to where it was lasered. In my case, the G80 indicated the correct distance if I was pin high. In addition, if I fell short, it showed that as well. To get an accurate measurement, you will need to hit the ball well. I had poor results on shots when I was way too thin (quasi worm burners) or misdiagnosed As a result, the G80 showed the shot as being a lot longer than it In this case, it is only measuring speed. The ball was accurate when I hit it well, but very far when I did not. The G80 found only one shot that wasn't measured correctly - my driver off the tee. I took about 80 shots on the range today. As it were, I was going to kill that one so I had it set too high. There's no way I'll learn if I slice it up like that again! Because my mission of mapping out my clubs was successful, I believe the monitor served its purpose and was well worth the purchase price. As soon as I know it is accurate, I will use it in my back yard with a net to try to gain consistency in my shots. I am happy with my purchase even before I have had the chance to use the GPS on the course.

It can't be relied upon as a radar
3/5

My review covers ONLY the radar feature, and I am giving it a 5 star rating. There is an error of +/- 5 cm in radar mode, according to specs A yard and a half. My golf club's range has a mark that I know (thanks to a laser range finder) is at 142 yards away, but I carry my 5 iron beyond it. Since I've had my current iron set for about 3 years, I am very familiar with the distances that my irons travel, so I will expect the same distance I believe the deliver is around 125 yards based on my radar. It has ever given me a carry of 130 yards with my 5 iron. The carry distance with all my clubs is consistently short. I set it up in my basement so I can be sure all the conditions are just right, and even with a clean strike, the carry distance with my 5 iron is never more than I've been rolling for a long time and yet my distance exceeds my carry distance even if I max out the roll feature. Taking spin and launch angle into consideration when computing carry and roll is not a feature of the radar, according to its manual. In what way? What is the best way to calculate the carry distance of a projectile without knowing the In order to calculate carry distance, what method does it use?.

Any course will be perfect with the Garmin Approach G80
5/5

My GPS device in this review is the Garmin approach G80, which is exactly what I was looking for without having to pay additional fees. On different courses I've used it and I've found it a great tool. The readings in the courses are right on target. I'm a happy camper!.

GPS works very well
5/5

Got the Garmin G80! I'm very happy with it. In order to leave my phone in the car when I turn it off, this was purchased. I have played 9 holes so far today. I am still getting used to it, but you are right that being able to move the flag is great. In addition, I used the elevation change option and it was surprising on two holes, but I followed with club distance and ended pin height but off line (my issue). So the first part of GPS for golf courses is acceptable, but not as good as Our next trip to the range is next weekend.

A yardage is no longer in effect
3/5

As much as I wanted the G80 to work, it would not I was 10 yards off on the yardage calculation The Irons should be 20 yards, and the ball should be 20 yards With the driver, you are 50 yards from the goal. Comparing yardage was done using the Golftec simulator. Although I live in Denver, the Garmin agent told me that altitude is taken into consideration when choosing the G 80. Plus, it was never the same yardage every time. What is odd is that the speed of the ball seemed to be perfect. In addition, the screen is pretty dark and hard to see, even when the G80 is set to the maximum brightness.
Hopefully, Garmin will get the next generation of the device dialed in.

I am disappointed
3/5

I got dubbed, so I got promoted. As a bonus I got GPS for Golf with the purchase of my launch monitor. As an honest person, I have to admit that both disappointed me. Firstly, the GPS on this unit is very difficult to use (especially with the touchscreen), so if you are hoping to score or measure distance, it makes no sense. It is very disappointing that Garmin didn't improve the functionality of this product. I own two GPS watches and they work perfectly. As far as I'm concerned, this feature is pointless compared to anything else. One of my old GPS units is more accurate than this one, and it's 10 years old. As far as Launch Monitor is concerned, the ball speed is only useful. But it is somewhat more accurate than However, it does not perform any other useful function, such as spinning the ball as do other devices in the same price range. As the product is produced by Approach, and it's quite expensive, I figured that I would get the sensors for my clubs, and to my surprise, that's not the case. I am amazed. It don't seem like they are trying to sell it for golf so I bought another Garmin Golf GPS Approach G12 since it does support the sensors, but it turned out you couldn't really use it for golf, so I don't know what they are trying to sell it as.

It is almost always inaccurate to report the yardage
3/5

There is no way to give less than a For the first few weeks, it worked fine, but then the yardage started to fluctuate. The estimate is 10 points off The yard is 15 yards long. It is not returnable so I have to deal with the 500 pieces of trash. The only electronic purchases I will ever make from Amazon are books.

A great deal for the price
5/5

The cart attachment is not to be trusted. I am able to use the Garmin to meet my needs. The distance to carry, the smash factor, and the All the other data will overload my brain, so I don't care about it. As a golfer, I am delighted to have the GPS functionality on the course and be able to quickly switch to the tracker, where I can quickly review my tempo. When I'm playing a round of golf, I enjoy the fact that I can verify that my poor drives occur because of an increased tempo. This is the first time I have truly enjoyed my practices. The opportunity to practice on some of the best golf courses of all time is one of the greatest things about golf.
