It is extremely popular among children. I received the call and put it to good use. My 5-year-old gets a hold of it and blows it too hard, bending the reed, so I had to buy another one. I'm not going to grunt anymore. If you keep it away from children, it should last a long time, or if you let them, it should last a long time. Have a good time, and make sure they know how to use it correctly.
I used mature buck sounds the first time I used this. It brought in two large deer, spikes, and a couple of eight-pointers. It worked.
I can only describe the sound as "meh. " It's not in good shape; the reed vibrates strangely, producing an odd rattle. The deer didn't seem to mind at all. It takes some practice to figure out how to use the buttons. At this price, it'll suffice; I chose one of those $29 calls with a slide selector because it didn't sound quite right. The sound is off, but it does not freeze on my computer, and it is quite loud.
To be honest, I keep this as a backup grunt call to my favorite. (The Flextone Bone Collector Plus Deer Call is my favorite because it has a larger chamber and produces a more natural sound. ) This one is both compact and durable. I keep it on hand in case my other call's reed freezes or if I misplace my other call. Because it's so small and compact, it's an excellent backup.
This was purchased for a teen hunter and did not include instructions. He's still learning and would have appreciated some guidance. There is always the internet to watch videos, but even a simple paper with the basics would be beneficial.
Everything appears to be in order. The basic grunt sounds natural, but none of the others do. My husband's previous phone number has a nicer ring to it.
I was able to stop a spooked doe in her tracks twice this season by using a loud fawn bleat on this grunt, which is compact and light weight. With a softer bleat, I returned their call. Last year, I did the same thing and got a coyote. The standard grunt tones aren't particularly loud, but they get the job done. Practice, practice, practice are the words that come to mind when thinking about how to improve your skills. It takes some practice to figure out just how much to pinch the air intake to achieve the desired sound. The directions for this grunt are adequate, but they could be improved. Better ones can be found on YouTube. br>br>While you shouldn't expect to go out and blow on it and call every deer within a mile, a social grunt can entice a buck or any other deer to come in a little closer or simply not spook, even if they see you. a few back-ups The deer in the woods have never seen a man before, and they don't always spook unless they can associate the sight with a scent. Overall, I'm pleased with this grunt's versatility as well as its size and weight. br>I've had more expensive grunts that I didn't find as useful, and I believe this one is the best value.
