Questions & Answers

If you use 135#, can you do Hayward twist or does this stuff have to be crimped?

Crimping sleeves with matching cuffs have always been my go-to choice. In my case, I use only leaders between 30 and 45 pounds. It might be worth a try to do a haywire twist. You can contact the manufacturer to find out their recommendations.

Can this line be used for outriggers and, if so, what kind of test do you think it passes?

Only when I’m fishing for muskies and salt-water flies can I use this type of tippet. There are cannon balls on the ground- A rigger is a very difficult aircraft to fly - The casting.

Can the 40lb and 30lb tests be tied together?

The knot I used was the uni knot for 30lb. Put water on it, and then use pliers to tighten it. A double braided main line and a snelled hook were included in my setup. There is a very good hold on it. The fish I caught recently weighed four pounds. This is a shark that is 5 ft long.

Selected User Reviews For American Fishing Wire Surflon Nylon Coated 1x7 Stainless Steel Leader Wire

At certain times of the year, we get bluefish or small sharks that easily bite through mono or flourocarbon leaders, so I usually do not use them
5/5

To fish in the surf, I use this wire to make double drop rigs. In certain seasons, we have bluefish and small sharks that will easily bite through mono or fluorocarbon leaders, so I fish those so that I can keep myself and the fish The initial bait that I used was 30 lb, but sharks bit me through it several times, so I switched to 60 lb In addition to the red, I also use it. I've caught everything from redfish to black drum to whiting, to bluefish to sharks and rays using these. Though some fish are more reluctant to follow a leader, they are still worth catching. It is likely that my hook-up percentage would be higher if I used
I have tried knotting them, but I cannot get them to stay in place I have tested it and it works Nevertheless, they are not at all attractive. Crimps are now all I use, and I have never had a failure. Get a crimper and a bag of sleeves, and you'll never return to using your old crimper again. This is not the kind of wire I would ever use for sharks hunting because of the bite throughs on it. The only thing I use it for is accidental shark attacks. Whenever I go fishing for sharks, I use heavier, single strands. "Great stuff! ", I always say.

Leader wire is my go-to spool
5/5

I keep spools of 20# and 30# AFW nylon coated wire in my tackle box at all times. This is the kind of stuff I use to make long, light leaders at home. I use sleeves for the leaders
and However, I also make special use of leaders in the boat while on the fly. I was trying to fish for walleyes with a crank bait, but the northerns keep biting and snipping my lures off, and I don't have any of my lures put away for the future These leaders have been made. It can be easily fixed if you have some AFW wire, needle nose pliers, and a friend with a lighter, and something to hold it (like a pen, screwdriver, I added a loop at one end of the wire, then cut about 24" of the wire and doubled back about 3". You can either hold the tag end and wire with pliers, or you can insert a pen/whatever into the loop and turn it 5 times We've done 7 rotations in total. The flame of the lighter must now be run over all the wire coils, held tightly, with both ends of the loop tightly grasped. When the nylon melts together, stop immediately if it starts bubbling. It is okay to bubble up a little bit of nylon, but if you bubble too much, you will have to cut off all the nylon and start over Take the wire cutter on the pliers and cut off the tag end sticking out. On the other end of the wire, I put the rapala and double it over three more times. Using the same process you used previously, but with a lure on the loop this time. Let the northerns try to snip the AFW wire by tying the wire loop to your fishing line and snapping the wire onto it. I don't think Having a wire loop on your rapala allows it to wiggle and wobble around freely, and the black wire is indistinguishable enough that the walleyes don't seem to notice Lastly, none of those scumbag slimers* are stealing your favourite (and expensive and limited quantity) Rapalas.

To melt the coating, twist it then melt it I don't think crimping the sleeves is necessary
5/5

As far as I can tell, there is no mention of melting the coating on the wire after it has been twisted like you can with twist weld. The wire keeps its shape very well when twisted and then melted to keep it from unraveling. As of early last month, I had been using twist weld wire. Previously, I had been using round wire. In addition to the superior coating on Surflon, it also reacts better to heat, it does not overcook easily and tends not to get hard, so it smells a lot less like burned plastic. This really counts when you have to make a lot of leaders. My current brand is twist weld, and I have switched A friend of mine bought 1000 feet of it and he loves do not use crimp sleeves but twist them very tightly and melt the coating to finish them, so a crimp sleeve never works for me. hold the other end of the cordless drill with locking pliers and use a cordless drill with a hook to twist it. As a result, I'm able to get the twisted wire really tight, but it takes a bit of practice to get it right without over-twisting it. You will find that after you make a few and experiment you will soon find out how tight a twist is needed, and then.

Unlike a normal review of a fishing leader, this one takes a different approach
4/5

Unlike a normal review of a fishing leader, this one takes a different approach. Using Berkley Seven Strand Coated leader as framing wire on the back of my paintings is my preferred method. had it for years, but it appears that it is being discontinued, so I am looking for something else to replace it. In terms of crimp sleeves, the American Fishing Wire appears similar. Buying a spool of 1,000 feet is what I do. Next time I frame a wall, I am going to use this wire. I will update the post.

Downrigger cable that can be substituted for coated cables! The following review is specific to using this as a downrigger line
5/5

A few years ago, I was in need of a new coated downrigger cable for use with my Depth Raider speed and temperature In order to prevent the loss of RF signals, the coating is needed. In fact, this cable does not peel like the coated downrigger wire, and even though the rated weight is 15lb lower, it is strong enough to drag along the bottom, nothing can break that cable! So thanks to you, I have not had a single problem! Ensure that you crimp all the way around and you will never encounter In addition, I recently purchased a second roll to use on my new downrigger. However, this review is based on three years of experience on the first roll, so be assured this rod works and.

There are hits and misses
3/5

If the wire had a more uniform coating of plastic, I'd like this product more. It is possible to see the wire behind the drywall in some places. It seems as though the manufacturer's standard of quality wasn't quite met with the spools. The wire's function does not seem to be affected by this issue, it is only a matter of appearance.

The sink rate has been increased by five times! Tony Maja Bunker Spoons is the target of my trolls
5/5

In the statement it is stated that there is a sink rate of Money or regular stainless steel is valued at 5 times what it is in money. Further, it is vinyl wrapped so maybe it reacts less galvanically with the spool since it is covered in vinyl (I have not seen it). Additionally, there is only a diameter of I'll be able to reach 45 feet as long as the wire is 36, which is the same as my old 40# wire. There is a lot of hope in me.

Normally, I use it when I am aiming for shark or king mackerel
4/5

A leader for king mackerel can be placed in 40 pounds, while a shark pond can be placed in 90 pounds. It is not my style to be an all-out tournament gung-ho I guess that's crazy I need the thinnest wire known to mankind. This is the same ease of use that SURFLON provides. You'll need crimps to do a proper job (((double-crimps are best)) Barrels are clamped down.
