Unless you're dealing with a lot of wind, a 7 or 8 weight is plenty powerful enough, though many of the modern 6 weights are plenty powerful enough.
Yes. But it's not without flaws. They have nylon monofilament loops that can be positioned to keep the hook in place. It's a "CJ" configuration, in which the hook "J" is smaller than the loop "C," and both are overtyped. Poppers / bugs must be used in weeds in a more subtle manner than usual to be effective.
When I bought them, they were around ten years old. However, when I tried to tie one on, the eyes fell out, so I'll leave it up to you to decide:

These are nice flies, especially for the price, and I haven't had the opportunity to use them yet, but I've been fly fishing for 35 years. I've also tied some of my own flies from time to time (when the mood strikes), and the deer hair is stacked fairly well, albeit not as tightly as I stack it. They all appear to be fantastic. br>br>I figure if I'm not catching fish with these, I'm not throwing them in the right spot. I've caught a lot of fish with flies that aren't nearly as good as these. I'd give them four out of five stars for quality and five out of five for value. br>br>I'll be placing another order with them.
I used one the first day and got two bass, so it appears to be good quality for the price. They didn't bother with the flies after that. I've looked in a few different places but have yet to get any results. They appear to be attractive, but I do not believe they are worth the money.
I've caught a 4-pounder with one of these, but I haven't tried them all yet. however, it is of excellent quality.
On the poppers, I got a bass. They appear to have been well-made.
I went to the store a few times looking for bass poppers before deciding on this collection, and I'm glad I did. I haven't yet tried these poppers out on the water, but I am very pleased with their construction. They're well-made and made of sturdy materials. They appear to be capable of performing their duties. One googly eye did fall off during shipping, but a white eye has taken its place. I'm hoping that these will hold up well in the long run.
