I had a hard time choosing a material, but the carbon was the right choice. Having good weight and being tough, it is a good choice. If I were making one out of aluminum I might bend it. This band seems to be under a whole lot of stress so it will be interesting to see how long it lasts. In case it gets damaged, I will order a backup.

There is no better alternative than the carbon fiber one piece pole spear. Since I have heard reports about them having poor structural integrity, I would not recommend the sectional pole spears made by Scuba Choice. Having said that, the spear with the one piece pole is a great choice and is impossible to Honestly, the only thing I don't like about it is that it's completely slippery. After making my own grip out of self adhesive rubber wrap and 550 cord, I was extremely happy with it. The carbon fiber shaft is very slippery, so I had to build a grip out of self adhesive rubber wrap. In terms of metal parts, it doesn't feel like the best quality, but it will be more than adequate for beginners. My expectations are not for this thing to last forever, but if I use it well for a couple years, it should be okay. There is no better deal at this price. The purchase I made was a good one.

My only reason for giving this 1 star was that I could not give it a 0 star rating. This is not a reliable company and I would recommend that others not buy spears from them. There has been a few reports that people have received broken spears, but I thought I would How do broken products get to you? As soon as I opened the box, the spear snapped in half, but my packaging was perfectly fine. This is a recommended score of 400/10. Don't buy so you don't have to deal with headaches.
