A new piece of equipment and technique are something I strive for every year. It has taken me the last three years to figure out how to keep finger mullet in the surf alive and to maintain the oxygen levels. I bought a cheap 2 AA one from Walmart years ago. The battery lasted about two days until saltwater got into the battery compartment, and it ruined the battery. A year ago, I stepped it up a little and used a Marine Metal Aerator Quiet Bubbles, but it only lasted about four hours before its motor blew out. The item was going to be returned, but I forgot about it until it was too late to send it back. Due to the low price and the fact that it had been saltwater tested, I ordered the Frabill a couple days before I left for my trip. That one worked great for the whole week I used it. The fishing was slow, I lost a few mullet, but kept others for as long as 24 hours (along the way I caught other fish). One time I ran it overnight, and the rest of the time I ran it while It was the only time I replaced the batteries, and I only did it when I ran it overnight and I wanted to make sure the batteries would last the whole This is a great choice for anyone on a budget who enjoys fishing in good company. I had a Frabill "Whisper Quiet" which looked a bit like this one many years ago. The least we can do is to get the word out. An old one I was fond of, it was powerful, quiet (I hate loud aerators) and has a long battery life. As soon as this one arrived, I opened it to put some batteries in it and what a surprise. Everything inside was entirely different from A smaller motor, a cheap air pump, and connecting the batteries in parallel led to a longer lasting battery. A new series wiring for 5vdc is preferred to the old wiring for The motor must have been smaller due to the size of the gearbox. The original was quiet, but the modified one was not. As the air was restricted, the sound got louder and louder as each time. Once the frog was in the bait tank, it did seem to calm down a fair bit. Nevertheless, even slight pinching of the air tube increased the noise severely to the point where the motor stalled. I am sure that the motor would eventually overheat if the hose were completely pinched for any period of time. I had ordered a second one due to the low price I found, but cancelled it as soon as I saw this one. For the next level Frabill, I'll choose a unit that is capable of running off 12 volts DC as well as 120 volts AC (with an adapter). As a result, I can't be too hard on this because it was $10. If it had been $20ish, I would have given it.
