Selected User Reviews For Scientific Anglers Absolute Fluorocarbon Trout Tippet - 30m
Excellent strength-to-diameter ratio, and I love the built-in cutter and free spinning center hub so your line doesn't get pulled out when changing tippet sizes; I'm going to switch all of my tippet to this brand, if only for the spool.
After reading numerous reviews and hearing people talk about it, I decided to order it. I'm not sure if I got a bad batch or if it was old and damaged from sitting in a warehouse for a while, but I took it out and used it fishing the same week I got it in the mail and lost 7 - After 8 flies, I decided to stop using it altogether. I'm not new to fly fishing, and my knots are correct, but I've had small fish break off flies, I've had incredibly light snags that barely interrupted my cast break off flies, and I can break the line if I give it a solid tug with my hand. I used RIO Fluoroflex plus, a fluorocarbon with high knot strength, and it stood up to a lot more force, and I couldn't break it with my bare On Amazon, it costs roughly the same. Anyway, it's possible that I just have a bad spool or something, but I'm not happy with it and will not use it again. A total of $15 was squandered.
I've tried a few different brands, including some that were less expensive, but this one has proven to be very reliable in the 6x size for my fishing (mono-rig nymph fishing).
Material for a great leader.
This is excellent content. It was well worth the money. It's simply not worth it to use low-cost fluorocarbon.
I'm going to buy more.
When I first had to snap flies off, I was using the 5X tippet, and it felt like it took less pressure than 4X tippet. I was blown away by its tenacity!.
