Nope. The diameter of a 4/5 wt reel is smaller than that of a 5/6 wt reel. As a result, the spool will be.
I have a 5/6 that I've had for at least ten years and a 4/5 that I bought a few years ago when I needed a smaller rod. I've never had any issues with them, and I use them frequently, particularly the 4/5.
This is an excellent reel. For fly lines with a diameter of 4 or 5. The outer spool has a diameter of 2 7/8 inches (73 mm).
I'm not sure if you mean when it's submerged underwater or when it's being used normally. However, I would say I use it from a float tube, so it can take a dunk now and then, and it has never failed me. The drag is still functioning properly. Okuma reels are renowned for their smoothness and dependability. I have a few fly reels and spinning reels in my collection. They are, in my opinion, among the best-performing, well-made, and smoothest for the price.

Sloppy drag adjustment (see my suggestion). This is a fantastic little work reel that is both durable and affordable. br>I'll always have it, and it'll be with me for the rest of my life. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, The drag adjustment is clumsy at best. br>br> The adjustment knob has a small steel spring that clicks into place during adjustment to keep it in place. There's a sloppy spot between TIGHTEN and LOOSTEN drag when you change direction of adjustment. br>br>To get around this, click two clicks further in the direction you last turned it before changing directions. The slop will be eaten up as the spring changes direction, and you will effectively get the fine adjustment to where you wanted when you change direction.
4 stars because it fulfills all of my expectations in terms of mechanical function and construction. There are no surprises; it runs smoothly, and I enjoy the drag; plus, spare spools are available. I'm planning on ordering another for a 4 wt rod I recently built. I have other Okuma reels (spinning and conventional trolling reels) and they have never let me down. br>br>Creative+ paraphrase: As I've gotten out and used this reel more, it's performed admirably in terms of mechanical function, but I've determined it's a little too small a diameter for my needs, and the running line of my switch rod rig is curling quite a bit. The Sierra has a small diameter spool. So I replaced it with a Bass Pro Hobbs Creek 7/8 reel with a larger arbor (it's massive compared to the little sierra). This Sierra, along with the spare spool I purchased for it, will work fine on my standard 10ft 4wt rod. However, those rods reels that I swap between them are getting really old, so this purchase is a no-lose situation. Or even on my 9ft 5 lb. 5 lb. 5 lb. 5 lb. 5 lb This Sierra would most likely be a good match.
The drag is smooth, the clicker is loud, and it appears to be well built; the only drawback is that it is a little smaller than I had hoped, but that is entirely my fault because I chose the 4/5 over the 5/6. In my opinion, the 4/5 would be better suited for a 3wt rather than the 5wt I bought it for, so keep that in mind. Apart from that, I really like the reel, and I've received a few emails from the company proceeding my purchase so I can tell they really stand by their product. I would 100% recommend.
So, I'm writing this review because I use Okuma products and find them to be quite good. So, as with the other products I've used, I'll just say it's another good/quality product. However, I never received the reel because Amazon delivered it to another house and handed it directly to a customer (as the delivery guy stated when he delivered it), and I never received the reel or my fly line. I'm no longer satisfied with Amazon, especially since this isn't the first time this has happened to me. But, once again, their products are excellent, and I was eagerly anticipating the arrival of this reel. Thank you, Amazon!.
I've bought these Okuma reels from Amazon in the past few years. They're very nice, well-machined, and have extremely tight manufacturer's tolerances. Even though many of the Chinese reels are excellent and have even lower prices, the attention to detail and tolerances are far superior. For line weights 5 and 6, I use Sierra 5/6 with longer rods; For line weighted 3 or 4, I prefer Sierra 4/5. The drag systems can be tweaked for casting and setting, as well as for bigger fish that pull out line to get away from the fly. Fisherman, please!.
It's a nice reel. I like the reversible bearing (I'm left-handed) and how smooth the drag is. The only criticism I have is that the drag knob is a little awkward to use; I have a larger reel in the same line as the star drag and it's better on that count.
I'll keep you updated if I find any flaws in the water. br>br>It has a smooth reeling mechanism and appears to be well constructed. The machined spool is easy to remove and replace, so this is a good reel for changing lines. A small adjustment knob (located above the actual arbor) controls the drag. (Thumb and forefinger are pinched together). It's minor, but a three-quarter turn takes you from no drag to full drag, which allows for a nice hook set adjustment. br>br>The drag is quite loud, which is my only complaint. I have an Okuma SLV 789 for my saltwater setup, and it has a relatively quiet drag, so this surprised me. This irritates me, especially when I'm fishing with other guys who don't like the sound of the drag being ripped off (FISH ON) or spooky native trout. I would have given it five stars if it hadn't been for the fact that it wasn't for the fact br>br>For the price, this is a great little product that can hold about 200 yards of backing and an entire Rio mainstream 4 line.
It's fine for a skagit/scandi setup with running mono, but I wouldn't dare to put a 600-watt amplifier in there. The 675 skagit line was chosen because it would not coil excessively. br>Either a switch rod or a 7wt spey 12ft would be ideal use cases. It's well-made, though the smooth drag isn't as loud as traditional salmon von hoff reels (which I prefer). When you remove a line, it makes a clicky sound. br>br>Edit: I used it today with a 525 grain shooting line, 200 feet of backing, and 200 feet of shooting line, and there is still plenty of room inside the reel, and the clicking sound is very quiet. I'm getting another Okuma 10/11 for my switch rods because the drag is very smooth and easily handled the king in the photo.
