While I was able to kill carp with a wrap type bowfishing line holder, it was slow and inconvenient. I put the Muzzy on the bow today, and while I didn't get out on the water, I did a bunch of target shooting with a fish arrow that had the barb removed into the butt behind the house. I fired about 50 shots and it was such a pleasure to simply reel up the line; plus, with the lighter line, it was faster and more accurate. With this reel set up, I was able to add 10 yards to my shooting range. I'm really excited to get out on the water.
I took it out and set it up, but after about ten shots, the reel became stuck inside, and the line (supposed to be 150 lb. ) became tangled. ) tightened, snapped, and sank a brand-new $30 arrow to the ocean's depths. Their parent company, FeraDyne Outdoors, which owns over 20 other outdoor businesses, has no customer service or contact information. The only thing I can do is fill out an RMA warranty application, ship it back to them (at my expense), and wait for them to decide whether or not to cover it. It's a complete disgrace.
Good packaging, but the real cap is missing. I took off the cap to see how much line was on it, and when I replaced it and tightened it, it just kept spinning. I'll update my review if they send me a replacement, but I won't be able to use the product unless they send me one. I'm going to contact the seller about a replacement.
It really works. The reel is in a free spool, as you can see. Drag is a good option. Missed shots are easy to recover, and I prefer spinning reels for retrieving fish. Due to the narrow space in the mounting bracket where the Allen wrench is used, mounting it on some bows is a little tricky. Overall, this is a fantastic reel. Winners get to play with the spinners.
It was necessary for me to send my first reel. The line continues to break. My first reel was broken, so I had to send it back, and the replacement reel isn't working properly either.
I've put everything through its paces and it's never failed me. I would strongly suggest it. For a long time, I'm not going to change my reel.
Product of high quality.
This reel is fantastic. It's a powerful tool that's also very simple to operate. It's a piece of cake to fight big fish with this.
