This is an ad for a spool that is no longer in use.
This reel has served me well for a number of years. The only caution is to avoid dropping the reel because it is prone to dents. This is a good fly reel to have on hand as a backup or as a first reel.
If you're new to fly fishing, the distinction between selling just the reel and selling the spool and reel can be perplexing, but it's a common occurrence in the fly fishing industry.

This spool is for a full sinking line, while the other spool I have for this reel is for a one-strand sinking line. It was given to me with a Spey setup. I'm going to get a new spool for my 6wt Echo rod and another for a regular floating fly line. Reel will be capable of performing any task I require.
If you don't handle the reel gently, light aluminum will always cause problems. I have a variety of sizes and duplicates (fish from the same family). For skagit, these are my go-to reels.
This irritates me greatly. This isn't a reel, so don't call it that. I'm now the proud owner of a spool of thread. What will I do with just a spool of yarn? I'm also having trouble finding the drag knob on the internet. If you're looking for a reel, don't waste your time.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who did this, but when I first went to install the new spool, I thought I had to completely unscrew the cap. I was about to toss them both and get something else, but it turns out you don't have to unscrew it. Simply loosen the screw until the spool comes free. whew. I was just thinking about the cap and the o-ring. In the river, a ring has dropped. br>br>I ordered the '8/9' one, thinking it was for the ION reel marked '8/10,' which it was. br>br>Right now, Cabelas has the '8/10' on sale for 79 dollars. However, there are no spools to be found.
I have a few of these reels because they are so good for the money.
There's a lot of backing capacity on this spool.
