No, it isn't detachable.
It certainly has the potential to. Obviously, it wouldn't hold as many spinners as it does flies, but it'd do the trick.
It's a close call. I have some in the box, but I wouldn't call them crushed. The fish don't seem to mind that I use a lot of the foam flies from the box.

Fly boxes are fantastic. Just keep in mind that Maxcatch sells two different kinds. These boxes are for nymphs and streamers, and they're flat. They also sell the same box for dry flies, but with cutouts for the hackles to prevent them from getting smushed. Dry fly hackles will be smushed in these boxes. Please make certain that you order the correct box. On Amazon, you can find both of them.
This is my ice fishing jig storage, and it's fantastic. When needed, clips keep things closed; when needed, they open safely (even in -). 15°F), and it works as expected with jigs and lures. For my tackle, I couldn't ask for anything better. There was also no obnoxious plastic odor, which was a bonus.
This is a well-made fly box. The latch is made of good materials, the latch closes securely, and the gaskets appear to do a good job of keeping moisture out. It holds a lot of flies, as you can see from the attached photos, especially if you use a lot of nymphs, emergers, scuds, midges, BYOs, and other spring creek staples in the size 12-inch range. 18 range. It won't go nearly as far with summer terrestrials and western style flies. It's a little chunky, but the extra air ensures that even when fully loaded, it floats high in the water.
The case is of good quality and has plenty of space for small jigs. I'm really looking forward to filling it. I like the small size, and the company's customer service was extremely helpful when I received the wrong product; they were incredibly quick to respond and make things right. I couldn't be happier, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again.
The box is clear, allowing him to see which side to open depending on his fly preferences, and the clasps are secure but easy to open. I bought the smaller box, which was smaller than I expected but worked out perfectly because it fits in his shirt pocket when fishing and inside his tackle box when traveling.
The quality of Maxcatch continues to astound me. I bought these as gifts for some of my fishing buddies, but they're really nice for the price. I have a few Maxcatch items, and they're really nice, especially for the price, so I'll keep buying them. The boxes are made of high-quality foam, lock down tightly, and appear to be more expensive than what I paid for them.
I saw something similar on a sports channel fishing show. The brand was not mentioned, and I was unable to record it. Of course, despite not knowing what this product was and having to use some pretty clumsy search terms, I was able to locate it on Amazon. The recipient of the gift was extremely pleased!.
It's a nice-looking case that works well. However, the first time I went wading, my vest pocket filled with water, and it went underwater. I didn't notice until it was too late that my flies were rusting.
