No - A lanyard can't be attached because there isn't anywhere for it to go.
The inside of the box measures 1/2 inch from the face of the foam to the open edge of the box when it is open, measuring 5 3/8 long, 3 5/8 wide, and 1 3/8 high. These are great because they seal well and leave enough room for your fly to not be crushed.br>Hope this information was useful.
I suppose you could remove the pads that you use to hook your flies. The locking mechanism is extremely powerful. It's difficult to open and close because it's so strong!
The interior measurements are 2-by-2-foot. Both sides are 3/4" x 5". I'm sure the foam can be removed, but it'll take a long time. The foam is firmly adhered to the surface.
Selected User Reviews For Flies Direct Waterproof Fly Box
This appears to be an excellent fly box. You won't be able to fit much in it, but it'll suffice for carrying your favorites when you don't want to bring too many with you. Mine is kept in the bottom of my rucksack with other hard cases and such almost every day, and it has proven to be extremely durable so far. The only drawback is that there isn't a loop for a carabiner lanyard, but that isn't a deal breaker for me. You'll be good to go if you combine this with a small shirt pocket case. After spending the night on the boat in some pretty heavy rain, I opened it the next day to find that all of my flies were completely dry. If you make sure the seal is laying flat where it should be, you won't have any problems with water getting in unless you submerge it for an extended period of time.
This is a well-made fly box that is both sturdy and attractive. The latch that closes is solid. It's not as big as some fly boxes, but that's what I wanted because I'm going backpacking with it. It has a theoretical limit of 126 flies, but only normal sized dry and wet flies, as well as nymphs, can be used. Larger stimulators, such as chernobyl ants, streamers, and other similar items, will take up two spots each. But it's still big enough to hold all the flies you'll need for a couple of days of fishing. Some other reviews claim that this box isn't truly waterproof, but I haven't tested that theory yet. This isn't a big deal for me because I've never had a truly watertight fly box, and everything inside dries out fine.
This is my second Flies Direct Waterproof Fly Box (I lost the first one and had to repurchase it). My first one has been discovered! ) It's perfect for my nymphs, and it's extremely durable, waterproof, and simple to use. I had my first one for over a year and put it through a lot of wear and tear. The box still looks great and the inside was dry despite being lost on a river bank for more than two weeks. (Yup, my buddy stepped on it in the bank's weeds, which is how we discovered it! ) Now I'm down to two. I use a section of one side for larger nymphs, which take up two spaces but are usually size 10 and up. For smaller flies and nymphs, I highly recommend this box.
I've now placed two orders for this sturdy little fly box, which is the ideal size for minimalists who prefer to carry their fly selection in their shirt pocket. On the other hand, I keep one box for nymphs and wet flies that I plan to use on a particular day, and another for dry flies. Despite the fact that it isn't large enough to hold a lot of streamers, I believe this box is both useful and inexpensive.
It was just delivered, and it appears to be well constructed. I had no idea it didn't have a window when I ordered it because I was more concerned with the price. If you're reading this, you've probably already figured out that it's windowless based on other people's photos. I'm going to keep using it and refer to it as my flies' black box. Fish on!.
Fly holder that is very neat and tidy. Two old leather and cotton fly holders were able to be discarded. This one holds a lot of flies, is lightweight, well-made, and affordable. Because you won't be fighting cotton that pulls and catches on everything, it'll be much easier to get rid of the flies.
I've bought dozens of fly boxes over the years, and I have to say, for the price, this is an excellent box. I didn't give it five stars because there are better boxes out there - However, at this price, it is not feasible.
If your fingers aren't as fat as mine. There are 126 slots for your favorite flies, which is a great deal for the price. If you don't have fat fingers like me, you can skip this step. Realistically, I don't think anyone would try to fill every slot, but if they did, you'd have to use 14s or smaller, and forceps to remove them from the box. My jigs and nymphs are Euro jigs. I'm about three times the thickness of an iPhone 5 and slightly larger. If you don't have a vest on, it will fit perfectly in the pocket of a fishing shirt. Neither the hinge nor the lock have caused me any problems. Despite the fact that I haven't put it in, the seal has worked. It's gone swimming with me a few times, either because the rivers are getting rockier or because I'm getting clumsy in my old age and fall in several times on each outing. br>It isn't a high-end box, but it does an excellent job of what it is supposed to do. Please keep your flies in a safe place. Because of its size, it's ideal for carrying a reasonable amount of flies for a day of fishing. Alternatively, if you're like me and carry way too many flies, it allows you to carry a lot of boxes for a low price. br>If you're a small stream Brook Trout angler, leave the vest at home. Put this baby in your pocket and head for the hills; you'll be able to carry all the flies you'll ever need.
