In my opinion, this is a great starter fly rod and it comes with pretty much everything you need to get out there, minus a pair of waders and perhaps a couple more fly types. You will buy more rods if you are addicted to fly fishing. To that end, I cannot think of a better way to get into flyfishing than with takes ALL the guesswork out of fishing and gets you fishing faster. I've upgraded to such and such gear, but if this happens to malfunction, I'd be totally comfortable with this backup. It was a pleasure working with the customer service team! There were some flies attached and they managed to catch lots of bluegills and small bass with it. If you are a newbie, you should watch YouTube casting videos. Invest in this to learn and then you'll have a killer backup for years to come.

years, I have purchased a few beginner fly rods that have not lived up to my expectations. While I was young, I fly fished, but when I was starting back up again, I did not want to spend the money for a rod I would use just once in a couple of In one of the sites I trust, this rod was rated as being in the top ten. It was tight and difficult for me to strip the line from it. After sending the company an email, I asked the company about any "tricks" or anything that might loosen up the process. Perhaps the line was too tightly wound, etc. Instead, they sent me a brand new reel with a new line. They included a repair kit, too. Returned the original reel by paying a return shipping fee. I am likely to continue doing business with this company for as long as they provide excellent customer service. Also, I would like to add this. Everything works perfectly on the new reel! There is no compromise between the rod and the case. The action is just right. The 5-minute video is presented here This fly rod will be perfect for trout with its 6-weight system. The first fly rod I own and the first time I put it all together and took it out in It was easy to learn how to cast the line and it casts well. It is somewhat difficult for me to get the reels to spin smoothly. It seems that when the reel is feeling in, it is not balanced out of the box. As a result, it isn't smooth and sounds awful as it scratches something inside the reel every time. Trying to figure out if anyone else came across this issue.
