If you enjoy fishing, nothing is more relaxing than casting a fly rod, while you cannot describe the exhilaration you feel when you catch a huge fish with one. Rods and reels do not achieve the level of sensitivity that can be achieved with traditional rods. Fly fishing isn't like old school fishing, so you won't want to use a regular reel once you get started.

Please note that This is quite stunning except for one problem the reel scratched against itself when you reeled it in (see attached video for an example of this). A rise or fall of the reel happens whenever a certain position is reached. All in all, everything seems to be fine, and in practice perhaps the rod will still work fine until it binds in that spot. Their contact support form on their website allowed me to send in a message and Heidi responded almost immediately, offering a replacement reel and paying for return postage. It is so nice to receive such prompt and courteous communication from them. Update 2 Despite the great customer service offered by Wild Water, there is not enough room to extol its virtues. It works perfectly with the new reel that I received. It was so great to take my son, wife and myself to the Golden Gate Casting Club class this past weekend. Only thing is that I wish I would have discovered this rod earlier. I would have been outdoor fishing a lot more instead of getting stuck wondering "which rod should I buy. ". I'd like to thank Wild Water once again!.

The kit is an excellent choice for beginning (and intermediate) users. In the course of purchasing a few starter kits, this is by far the best. I bought this as I was just beginning to learn fly fishing and it has served me well. I do not see any wear or tear on the rod after two years of heavy use. I did get a lot more than I paid for, in many cases! I have some loose reel teeth and a small chip in the spool, but I definitely got what I paid for! A second problem I encountered was that the rod tip broke (which I'm sure will happen to you eventually) and they were amazing about sending me a replacement for only $13. In case you are getting into fly fishing and are considering such a package, this is a package you can buy.

They are pretty good beginner sets for the money, I have purchased a few of them myself. I like the rod's medium action, as well as its performance. My reel is okay, but the reel seat is held to the reel by two screws that are prone to falling out. The reel has fallen off the rod on my This past weekend, I had a super-duper night A few years ago, I bought a 3W Maxcatch setup for the price of an entry-level combo, and it was worth the few additional bucks. When I have had a bit more experience using it, I'll post about that. combination with which I am very fond is the Cabelas Three Forks/Prestige combination. There is a bit more to it than either of these, but it is most definitely a step up in both function and build quality.

The majority of my fish were caught on spinning reels for many years before I started fly fishing. There seems to be no difference between reels and poles when it comes to quality. As well as a nice carry case, it is also Wild Water sent me an email when the cable retractor was not included in my order. I received a response within 20 minutes asking for the address to send it to. With the high level of customer service and the product quality, I would not hesitate to purchase more products from this organization and I will recommend it to all my fly fishing friends. We recommend this kit to anyone who is new to fly fishing and is on the fence about which one to get started with. This is a decision you will not regret.

This starter kit was a good value but the fly line was not the best quality. My review of the rod is favorable, I would say it has medium action and feels good in my hand. The reel is adequate as well. As far as I'm concerned, it works perfectly well and I've never encountered any problems. It is the fly line that is the downside to the kit. I took a fly fishing class and the fly line was difficult to roll out. After trying it, the instructor said the line wasn't weighted well enough in the front to pull the line forward efficiently. I replaced it with a 6wt line that is weighted forward for the best performance. Certainly affordable for a good starter kit, the Wild Water kit will get you started on the right foot (pun intended). You may want to spend a little more to have better line installed on your.

Buying my first fly rod was a great experience. I would definitely buy the same rod have put a lot of strain on the rod, reel and line and have not had any issues after 6 months and over 100 fish. After going to another rod and reel set up, this rod is certainly quite a bit stiffer and harder to cast, but this would only be of concern to an angler who is even remotely good at casting. My recommendation has been to use this set up for every person who has expressed an interest in learning how It still comes in handy from time to time for me.
