Yes, there is an upper lip all the way around the top, so it must be mounted at the top of the corner; however, you have the option of mounting it lower.
It is possible that it will not last long. Find out what adhesives are compatible with the plastic casing by speaking with the manufacturer. I believe that the impact will cause the adhesive between the concrete and the plastic to break.
No, I do not believe that is true. I am extremely dissatisfied with it, and it has already crushed me.
The mounting hole in the center is about 3 inches from the top or bottom! The other two mounting holes, on either side of the center one, are approximately 2 3/4 inches in diameter!

Although it is not visible in the photo, we have two - one at the very end, and one with a step down from the dock For us, the corner bumper is effective. If that's what you want, it's not soft and spongy, but it protects the boat from the sharp corner and hasn't left any marks on the hull.
Although it appears to be of good quality, mounting hardware is not included. Now I'll have to go to the hardware store and spend more money to get it installed. The product should come with the few screws that are required to use it.
This was placed on the corner of my dock so that I could make tighter turns with my 23' boat as I exited. I have no problems with it and it shows no signs of wear after a season of rubbing up against it at least once a week throughout the summer. Because my dock is in a tight spot, this has saved me from numerous scratches. I'd buy from them again.
