My recommendation would be not to use this product to clean rods
As far as I know, this product does not exist in I consider it to be the best product I have used. This is something I use after every trip to the beach. There is no need to worry about old grease coming off with it. The corrosion will be eaten off your ball bearings as well. Thus, they will have to be repacked. As far as aerosol cans are concerned, I only use The REEL KLEEN cleans better, but it does not work as well. You can use the aerosol stuff as a quick lubricant. Hope everything goes well for you

The product seemed to be ineffective. I read another review in which the customer explained he didn't know what it was, but it wasn't the product he was used to. It's blue baby oil, which is the best description I can give. Cleaning is not a part of it. There's no doubt it has some useful properties, but not those that were advertised. The results were nil, so the price was way too high. At Home Depot, you can purchase a gallon of Greased Lightning spray cleaner Nothing happened after I spray this stuff on, let it sit for more than a minute, and waited another ten minutes. Using brake cleaner, I was able to get the dirt out of my brakes. A scam has been perpetrated on me. The purchase will never be repeated. Users who used the real stuff said the smell was strong. An odor does not emanate from this I believe it is a glycerine-based product. I don't understand why people waste their time reading this.
Water with blue dye seems to be what it is. The smell of Ardent Reel Cleaner is extremely strong and distinctive. The smell of this product is almost nonexistent. I purchased more Ardent Reel Cleaner because it is good (which I purchased more of) other than that this is not the same thing.
However, be careful not to soak the chrome. The old reels I pick up at yard sales work great when I use this product to clean them up. The product cleans the surface by removing both hard dried paste-type grease and oil-based grease A type of lubricant that has turned into In its present state, the older plastics have not been damaged, nor has the lettering paint on the reels been damaged. Aluminum and brass parts will be free of light tarnish or corrosion. It is also effective at cleaning and shining chrome, with the caution that you shouldn't soak chromed items for very long as the product will eventually ruin the chrome. During the freeing of vintage beer signs, I have used this technique as well. With one or two spritzes of oil, a nearly seized bearing can begin to turn They were completely clean from the old grease after a shake in a jar with this stuff. The product has also been used to scrub and remove years of grime from second-hand furniture Tools for use by hand. There are a number of applications for this stuff so I highly recommend buying the larger 16oz bottle.
As I explored the pier this afternoon, I was disappointed to find that the pump is not working. To be able to squeeze it, you need to push it back out. As a result, when I got home I tried to make a return but this SOB wouldn't This is not a good company to buy from.
This cleaner has cleaned a few vintage reels for me and it has done a great job. This cleaner doesn't dry as fast as clean up liquids in pressurized cans, but it still works effectively. I have cleaned rusted drags that had become stuck to one another from decades of neglect, and I was able to detach them with this cleaner. I were wiping down, I would use a cloth, then apply it to the area, I don't see any benefit of using a sprayer for it, since it should be applied with a tip or paper towel first.
This does not appear to add anything extra to the process. So far, I have not noticed a great deal of Fresh water is used to rinse our equipment and a wipe down is performed. It is what I started using after using I don't think the extra step is worth it.
Not only does this cleaner cut through old grease & grime, it also leaves the surfaces clean and shiny. The tape is safe on all parts of the reel, except for those that come into contact with oil. Approximately the same time as I was priming, it stopped working. With the reel cleaner transferred to my 16 oz. needle oiler bottle, I have the option of applying it to just the parts I want and I am sure that it will be as effective as the smaller bottle. Many years of use can be expected from this bottle.
